My first vintage amp came in today, a 1954 Deluxe. Picked it up from ECG. So far so good. Sounds really good with single coils.

Um.... WOW! Gorgeous! That chrome looks super-clean. How is the health of those Astron minimite filter capacitors? Are there new-production filter caps inside the shell of those Astrons?

    Congratulations!

    Can I just say - I hates yiz!!!:p

Lucky bastige! Enjoy that piece of heritage.

Please consider having a cap job done. Those orange Astrons are potential grenades.

As someone noted, a smart tech could fit new ones inside the shells to preserve value.

Unless it's a museum piece you'll never play your output transformer is in jeopardy.

    That's a sweetie, alright!!
    Super clean!!!
    Congrats!
Now ya gotta decide if it's going to be a trailer queen, or if you're going to service it and play it.
Does it have a piece of masking tape with the builder's name?
Is the nut loose on the tube socket nearest the speaker jack?
It might look something like this when you're done.
This is my '54 Pro with the bare minimum of updates.

They also put name tape on the bottom inside of the chassis next to the sockets .

My “Lupe” was covered with fuzz dust when I first snagged my ‘57 Deluxe.

    Congrats !
