I was given this neck by a friendly guy that lived in a street I was installing footpaths on a few years back after striking up a conversation about guitars.

He said he had purchased it on ebay and had no need for it as it wasn't what he was expecting to receive.
Anyway this appears to be what i think is a Squier neck with a fender decal?
The decal looks factory but is likely fake because the neck also had a custom shop decal on the back which I just sanded off and another badly aligned one on the heel I cant be bothered getting off due to how hard is was to remove the first one. They are buried under what must be a satin poly and is a real pain to sand through. There's also remnants of a used stamp on the tip of the rear of headstock. It has a black plastic nut surround. I'm not familiar with Squier necks other than classic vibe and I've never checked out any satin Fender necks. What do you think this neck actually is?

Do you think the Custom Shop stamp is genuine?

    No way,
Not unless the custom shop guy was drunk when lining it up and that's why it got stamped as used and rejected.:D

I don't think the real ones would be so hard to get off either.

Whatever it is someone did a great job of applying the Fender decal. It looks factory but I have my doubts it is.

I wonder why it's there... What's with the two inside holes on the backside of the heel?

I don't know but those two holes look factory done. It's a 22 fret neck too just to clarify.
It's a nice looking/feeling neck. Not sure why it was stamped used. I put a ruler on it and the frets are good. No twist.

I don’t know if it’s just the picture but the headstock looks suspect to me the bulbous part looks kind of off

If it were a real fender custom shop, USA or Mexico it would have a date on it

The frets are nice but look like someone got carried away tidying up the edges on the wound e side. I think they will still be ok. The headstock shape looks fender. Quality doesn't look low end cheap.

Cheers bro. Wow, I dunno... not as up on the modern stuff tho it looks like a good chunk of wood. It does has the USA narrow 12th dot spacing... tho not sure whether the Chinese/Indonesian necks follow the USA or MIJ spacing...

Yeah I think they all do, I've never bought a 22 fret fender before but have an Allparts 22 fret rosewood neck and it's the same.

    The real question is

Is it going on your Floyd guitar?

I say if it feels nice and plays nice with no issues it could be made on mars and I’d still give it a go

I just guessed Squier because of the plastic nut insert but I have no idea about modern style standard fenders.

I'm tossing up using this on my Floyd guitar or another WD 21 fret rosewood neck I have with a 12 inch radius. I feel better about installing a locking nut on this free neck than on the WD.

I pulled the tuners off and started prepping it for a tint with tru oil mixed with vintage amber.
