The musical. She has seen it once live and, I kid you not, at least 12 times on video. She convinced me to watch it on video with her over the weekend. And....it's really good. It has more energy than I have ever seen in a broadway production. Especially the dude who plays Lafayette/T. Jefferson. Brilliant! it's just...not my bag. She knows that and yet she STILL acts disappointed that that I don't feel the same about it that she does (Truth be told, it comes out so blazing hot in the first Act that you know there has to be at least a LITTLE let down later, but that's another thread). So she asks me, "what's your favorite musical?" "Damn Yankees." "why?" I'm not sure. I saw the movie as a bored teenager and loved it. Loved the music, loved the characters, loved the plot. But I can't really articulate any of this to her satisfactorily. I'm not really a musical guy. "what's you second favorite musical?" ME: "Oklahoma!” "why?" she's got me here. when I was a HS freshman, Nora J., the most smokin hot senior who ever existed had the lead role. Think I'm going to tell her that? that my hormone addled memories have fermented Oklahoma into a puppy love/lust tale of desire? "I don't know. I guess I kind of like "it's summer and we're runnin' out of ice." eye-roll-slow head shake.
