i hate neck dive since i tried a SG of my friend. i prefer too heavy rather than neck dive
We need to figure out the secret message. Put together the secret notes hidden in one guitar every year from '51 to '21, and solve the puzzle.
Wonder where "too heavy" fits?
Ha! hilarious ...
8 lbs is my sweet spot.
My modded/mutt/player '69 Tele has a factory Bigsby (no string through holes). 7 lb 15oz. So awesome.
OP, that is really funny.
Too heavy, that's cool.
About 5 years ago, when I got an MIMer, I didn't find anything particularly unusual in mine.
But now I'm thinking, hey, I'll leave a few choice cryptic notes in there for some future forumites to ponder.
oh, yeah. Ima be all over that. A koan for the Texas special pickup, in Portugese.
to the OP: hey, great story. It's the little things that make at least one day special.
Great story and a very cool guitar. I have an Am Pro Limited Edition Lightweight Ash (same finish and also from Willcutt) and it weighs 6 lbs 9 oz... so it looks like the folks at Fender were paying attention to what actually went in to that limited run. I agree that the finish is gorgeous, and Willcutt are fine people to do business with.
Beautiful guitar, great story. If it were mine, I would take great care to preserve the "paperwork" as is, where is.
Not so lite ash.
Sorta Thick Thick
She aint heavy
Shes my br....mother !
Serously , under 8 lbs is fine.
If you want it on a diet , vintage tuners , single ply pickguard , lightweight knobs , will be very efficient mods !
Regardless of what it is, that tele is super cool, and if it's too heavy, you can play metal on it.
I recently bought an ash body that alone weighed 6.75lbs! I'm currently busy with my forstner bits and router lightening it.
Great looking tele C-Jah.
I have a BSB Ash that weighs 6.8 It wasn't a light model, but weight was one reason I bought it.
That finish looks great.
I was drawn in by the look of your Tele.
Enjoy the guitar.
Love the name. II Heavy
I always love guitars with a story! And yours definitely has one! That is a beautiful guitar!
Two things could have happened. It is too heavy because of Isotopes. Does it glow even in daylight? Or more likely, the guy who put it together was trippen on acid and the guitar made him giggle and he thought that was too heavy, and wrote the note and placed it there. 7.4 is fine for a Tele, but not much heavier.
Very interesting long story. Cool detective work. Mine weighs 6.4lbs.
