Gretsch built a run of doublenecks (it was usually a bass neck and guitar neck) in the early 1960s called the Bikini. To make it simple to drag to gigs, the necks disassembled from the body, and the body folded up like a pamphlet on two piano hinges. Gretsch also made single-neck models with a body that folded in half; the hings ran down the center of the back. Surf music made people think weird. Some things cannot be helped [shrug].
