My son and his girlfriend ran into Billy Gibbons last night!!

ZZ Top have been one of my favorite bands since i was a kid. I had Fandango on vinyl, 8-Track, cassette, CD and every other medium. BG has inspired my own playing and I only wish I had a fraction of his talent and class.

 

That's so friggin cool.

GREAT chow at Mi Tierra.

I was in San Antonio last week; the airporrt was delightfully uncrowded and I got a free upgrade on the rental car.

But I didn't run into Billy!

 

I hope they didn't wreck Billy's truck too badly, you know, when they ran into him.

I was visiting my friend Tere in Galveston in January ‘91. We ended up at a bar call The Sports Page pretty trashed. There were probably 10 patrons at the bar
In the back room where the pool tables & restrooms were was a pink taxidermineed (SIC?) trout on the wall. Tere and wanted that trout.
As I watched the front of house she grabbed a stool and snatched the fish. She put in her coat and we left. We got a couple of blocks away when the bartender came out of the bar screaming for us to stop. This dude, that had been in the bar, said to give him the fish (he had witnessed the theft), asked for Tere’s address and disappeared.
We didn’t have the fish and the bartender went back mumbled

the next day there was a knock on Tere’s door and the dude gave her the fish. It was Frank Beard of ZZ Top. Tere fixed us eggs & toast and I made Bloody Marys. We had a hung over morning breakfast and Frank left.
As far as I know Tere still has the fish. Unfortunately, we lost touch, and I can’t find her

 

I remember when Billy Gibbons only had a 5 o'clock shadow- that's how old I am.

 

I would have asked him about the .08's, but that just me.
