Sorry to hear about that. I spent most of Tuesday running around my side of Nashville looking for masks to send to a friend in Kanagawa. Couldn't find any because of a national backorder. The manufacturers are only sending them to hospitals and doctors offices.

Good time to get some practice in and learn new songs.

here in the Netherland is the first affected person found.
on tv we had a great program with government people and specialist about this explaining that the mask don't help, they can even make you sick if you don't use them right.
(if the virus is on your mask and you remove the mask with your hands you touch the mask and have the virus on your hands)

washing your hand regular, at least 20 seconds and try to wash everything (you can find vids on youtube i think how to do that)
blow your nose in your elbow, keep distance from people who appear sick, cough etc.

and the best thing they said. Its something like the flue, that kills vulnerable people to and the dying rate is not so much more than a regular flue.
BUT where we all build resistance having being sick and the body know how to attack the virus, this virus is new and the body has to cope with that with a blank 'memory'
it has to find out how to deal with it.

the biggest concern is that society has more stress to deal with it, factory's shut down, employees of all kind of business have to stay home to get over this.

so don't panic on this, take care of the ones who are really vulnerable like elderly people, people with heart ore lung problems.
(put there grocery at the door for example)
and when you went shopping, touching the shopping cart wash your hand afterwards.

I used to wish for the school to close for several months when I had to attend but we didn't have 24 hr news channels or the internet back then. We might have got to stay home if you actually had whatever virus was trending at the time and could get a note written for it by a doctor or your parents otherwise it would be business as normal.

Much like with having to go to work it gets harder to go back when you get a taste of freedom.

Dying rate: 1 out of 1000 for the flue, 1 out of 100 for covid-19, so 10 times more apparently.
But you are right, very sensible recommendations you gave.

I’m a high school teacher, and we already have students in quarantine after going abroad for a school trip.

teachers are actually going in to work in many cases, otherwise doing assignments or activities online until our spring break begins on the 12th.

Nah man, everybody loves those threads! :D
We are having virtual office hours at the times classes are scheduled. Students have to check in by 8:30 every morning. We are supposed to keep the learning going as much as possible, because we are trying to avoid having make up days on Saturdays in Spring.

and I’m gonna build a speaker cabinet, but I wasn’t going to make a thread for it this time...

I’ve been tracking the stats country by country pretty closely for the last couple weeks; fatality rates are varying significantly by country, between .5% and 2%...

I hope you and your country is going to be safe. This virus, if it's the reason ( you've not stated) is turning pandemic- worldwide. With increased flying and many on cruise ships, many are under threat. Hope all goes well for ALL of us.

My family is booked for a trip to netherlands in early april. Now I'm wondering if that will happen.

Good luck to those of you in the countries experiencing significant impact. Must be very very strange.
