A slab body, single coil pickup, and maple neck make for the perfect bass. My oldest has a neck pencil date of 12-9-52 T.G. These basses hit all my buttons. I like instruments that tell a story and when I pick one up I become part of that story.

My main gigging machines. Re-fin early 1968 with the transition logo only used for a few months. New MIM Special Edition Precision/Telecaster bass that I refinished and added a leather pick-guard. 5.JPG

I love 'em too (bass is my primary instrument). I am muy jealous of your collection! I'd especially love to have that '54 as a restoration project.

I am building two at the moment: one repro, and one "based on." I'm not very far in to the project on the repro one, but I have the body (extremely lightweight, single-piece ash). The plan is to do it up just like the first gen ones, complete with blonde finish and all...then give it an overspray in Midnight Wine, and spray the lacquered black Bakelite guard with white paint. The "based on" one is a extra long scale B-E-A-D bass (but with an ebony board, not all maple).

There’s a ‘68 listed off and on for quite a while (years) on the Baltimore Craig’s list. Price varies, but it’s always >$4k.

I'm in the beginning stages of building a replica '51 tele bass. Very nice collection that you have.

That's a little on the high side. But, it does seem like prices are going up right now.

I have a lot of Ampeg amps. For my smaller country-ish gigs I have an old 1963 Ampeg B-15. For my big gigs an Ampeg SVT VR with an 8x10 AV cab. My go-to head is a newer Ampeg V4B... I'll use it with an 8x10 or a 6x10 cab. But, I just stumbled upon (i.e. snuck into the house:) a 1971 Marshall Major. It's a 200 watt beast that I am so impressed by. I haven't gigged with it yet, but I really like it. I found a 4x12 Marshall bass cab that is crazy loud.

    How cool is that?
You've got a big piece of history there, actually a bunch of them.

Love your collection, thanks for posting.

Just learning bass here, pretty sure I'll never be able to afford a Tele bass!

My take on one.... made earlier this year. I'm very happy with it... :)

I made a guard for it, but it looks so clean without it...needs some aging now....
