I am known by some as a voracious 'consumer' of motorcycles, always have been, and I don't expect that to change much...until it does, of course, but as long as I'm sitting here on a bus in Custer, South Dakota until around 7:00 this evening, with little to do, I decided to make an updated list of the many and various machines I've owned over my lifetime....so far.

These are not in any precise chronological model year order, as many were purchased used well after their 'new' year.

I have almost certainly left out several at the 'first go', and will add them if I can find them in the mental dust piles of my brain.

My mom's basement.
@John Backlund I think we had a same Yamaha in the 1980s.

This is the 1966 I still have at the cabin and the 2021 acquisition.

I haven't ridden or owned a motorcycle for ten years, the appeal wore off. Some interesting machines on the lists above.
Here's my history 1972 - 2012:
Yamaha 80
Suzuki Hustler 250
Ducati Desmo 250
Suzuki 380
Norton 650SS
Royal Enfield Bullet 500
Honda CB500/4
Yamaha DT175
Honda CB200
Honda CB250N
Triumph Bonneville T120R
Moto Guzzi V50
Yamaha 250 (low seat and sissy bar, model forgotten)
Kawasaki Z1000 Mk2
Kawasaki Z550
I think I've missed a few thanks to my dwindling memory.
I got to ride a few exciting (and a few miserable) bikes of the era when I worked at a dealership such as the Moto Guzzi Le Mans, Guzzi T3, Harley Sportster, Sanders & Lewis GT750, standard Suzuki 750, Kawasaki H1 (frightening), Norton 750 Interstate etc.

Of all the bikes I've owned, my favourites were, in descending order:
The Honda CB500/4 (took me through France, Switzerland and Germany over three months with no technical issues. I miss her.
The Ducati Desmo for its looks and superb handling.
The Kawa Z1000 for its effortless cruising and the attention it got.

Worst:
The Guzzi's electrics let it down badly due to British weather. I once lost the engine and lights when travelling at night in the rain and water got into the switchgear. Not funny at 50 mph. Lovely handling unless you missed a gear going into a corner, the V cylinder config would twitch its a$$ alarmingly.
The Bonneville was a year-long nightmare of oil leaks, blowing light bulbs, cracked welds, bits falling off, terminating in the piston rings of both cylinders breaking up the first time I revved past 5000 rpm. Repaired and part-exed against the above-mentioned Guzzi.
The Norton and Royal Enfield wore out more boot soles than tyres. :(
The other bikes were unremarkable - they did their job and that was it.

1971 Honda cb450
1974 Honda cb750
1976 Kz 900
1984 Kawasaki GPZ750 turbo highly modified!
2001 Kawasaki Vulcun 1500
2002 Harley Davidson Road king my last bike maybe, I might trade for a soft tail as I age.

I also owned a small shop in the 90's. This mainly to my support my drag racing addiction. We had 1990 suzuki gsxr1100 turbo. Ran 8:60's in the quarter. We ran in it the AMA street bike shoot out.I was not the rider, I was the mechanic.

My list is tiny and confined to the 1970s, after which I stopped riding.

1960s Zundapp 125
This was a primitive enduro-style bike. It had a heavy, steel tube frame and the bike felt heavy, overall. I could run down the center of a train track and the springer fork would smooth it out. Probably 15 HP max.

1972 Rickman Zundapp 125 Enduro
Just like @telleutelleme. It had the 17 HP Zundapp engine with the radial head fins and a trans that needed to be shifted with authority, but not too heavily. The chrome-manganese Reynolds 531 straight tube frame was like fine art with braze welded (not brazed) joints and nickel plating. It was equipped with Ceriani forks, Girling shocks, Magura levers and bits, questionable electrics, Japanese speedo, and was about 175 pounds. The Racing Blue fiberglass work was beautiful. The Rick was highly functional at what it was built to do, but I found it was best at higher-speed woods work. It had a wheelbase long enough to take at least a 250 CC engine and was a bit difficult to maneuver in tight trails.

I can't imagine going from a GS1150ES to any "normal" harley. That's a high point of streetbike design to me.

I'll try to do this in chronological order from when I obtained them. All street bikes:

Honda CB200T
Honda 750 Four
Honda Nighthawk 550
Kawasaki 440 LTD
Honda Shadow 700
Kawasaki KZ1000 (former cop bike)
Yamaha Virago 750

Rode from about 1980 to 2010, about 4 years of it motorcycle was my only form of transportation. Finally gave up the license after being begged by my dad and my ex.

@John Backlund , what was the Yamaha TX750 like? I’ve always been curious about them. I remember seeing new ones parked around as a kid and thinking they looked taut and clean of line.

Every one I saw, pics in books included, was metallic brown.

I have owned an XS650 twin but if I’m not mistaken, the TX750 was a completely unrelated engine design with a counterbalancer, etc.
