Way back when we went silent stage, and I had to use the original kidney bean Line 6 Pod, I thought I sounded like crap. The first Sunday we used that live, I had several people come up to me and say how good I sounded that week….

Since then, while I love my tube amps, I have learned to embrace the digital modeling paradigm.

Have fun. Get those models…..
^^^^My standard rig for 12 years of worship music was a POD XT through a miked Hot Rod DeVille.
Never let me down and always sounded great.
Of course, today, I'd run the POD direct into the board and stop lugging the amp.
Not to mention big box churches are not necessarily run by folks who know diddly @ sound.
And the current trend is toward the "silent stage," with no amps to scare old ladies.
Yet more reasons I quit. And glad of it.

Our church bought two Kempers for the guitarist to use. The person in charge did not talk to any of the guitarist but just bought them and put them on the stage. They never set them up or educated anyone on how to use them. When I played through them I saw they had the amp set on a Vox AC30 which paired perfectly with my Tele.

They just said, "plug in here, we have everything else set up."

That was not good enough with the other guitarist as they wanted to dial in their own patches. Eventually the Kempers were bypassed and the guitarist would use their "Ruby", "Dream", or "Stomp" and run that into the Kemper's direct box.

I don't know what happened to the Kempers, they may be sitting in a closet somewhere lol

I eventually just bought the Helix LT and use it for everything.

WELL - My megachurch took my amp cabinet and iso-box away and handed me a KEMPER... Rock n' Roll is dead.

Horrifyingly: It sounded really good in my IEM's (through my pedalboard of course - they haven't removed my board for Christmas tree stage space YET).
So yeah - A Kemper can sound great. I had to shut off all the EFX in it though. Apparently i'm even running in stereo (like Jesus would!!!_).
Although I haven't asked anyone what it sounds like out front (hint: NEVER ask. The less you know the better.) The main reason I was hesitant towards the Kemper was because almost everyone who used it sounded horrible. But they probably sounded horrible regardless. And trying to read and tamper with this Kemper R2D2 toaster onstage is like trying to do maintenance on a new Sansui microwave.

Now i'm asking them If I can buy some Classic Marshall or Bogner profiles for the Kemper... I doubt they've realized the NEW can of worms they just opened. :p
Perfect venue for a kemper.

Oh, I have been on the receiving end of this non-conversation!

For me, it was a combination of silent stage, tracks taking over (ie I was effectively miming sometimes with the tracks/robot guitar in FOH and not me) and it being made clear I wasn't invited to talk about any of the decisions being made. No problem, I'll sit out.

And end of day, one must ask - would Jesus treat people this way? Would he strive to make everything so middle of the road as to appeal to the widest possible demographic in order to put even more butts in seats so that the congregation could continue to expand so that the pastor could get himself a nicer house and a newer sports car? Yeah buddy ...
