F3511E45-81D5-438A-8857-E68AF0844CD6.jpeg Picked up 3 new guitars in the last month. Sonic Blue Texas Special Strat and a couple of Heritage Cherry ‘Bursts. I think I’ll keep all 3.

    The Duesenberg is “incoming”.
It’s on layaway at Guitar Rez.
I know, nobody does layaway anymore.
    OK, I’m nobody.
    I digress.
    New stuff is fun!

Ain’t a damn thing wrong with lay-away. Bought a lot of gear that way and I ain’t ashamed to say it. And you are somebody, somebody waiting on a new guitar. And that’s fine in my book.

that's some fine looking guitar-age. You are to be congratulated on tripling your fun quotient or however that math works for you. Thanks for the picture.

If I understand this correctly, you are also to be congratulated on your golden shellback status. Something of a rarity is what I read.

I was at the shop the other day and a guy was getting his brand new Rick 360 in FireGlo off of layaway. He was damn excited too

Good score(s)! A nice collection going on there.

Before our first major lockdown at the end of March I had a heap of building and refinishing projects going on, so bit the bullet and completed them all as well as start another one! And I then started a bass as well. It took me from three home builds to nine! :D

I’ll post a pic of my Squier Strat. 1984 MIJ. It’s a beauty.

The Ibanez Artist is one of the few lifers in my pile. I bought it in 78 at Guitar Center in Hollywood. Their annual green tag sale. Half off, it listed for $499.99 and of course that was $250.00. I told the salesman that I’d do $250 out the door. He said, I’ll ask. He came back and told me Ok.
The inside of the back cover of Guitar Player Magazine had featured that guitar for a year or more and I’d stare at the picture every month just dreaming of owning it.
Ive had it now for over 40 years and it still plays and sounds amazing.
I hope you enjoy yours as much as I have mine.

I lived in N. Japan from 02-05. Knowing what I know now, I'd have snapped up every MIJ Fender I saw. I was too much of a young, inexperienced snob at the time.

Man, I miss the days when everyone did layaway. Was a great way to work towards awesome gear.

I bought that Strat in Sasebo in 1985. Came with a plastic Fender case, long gone, I really dig the guitar.

Never ceases to amaze me how (some of) you guys just casually ‘pick up the odd Fender or Gibson or three!

My Dad did it fir Martin Taylor many years ago. He had, I believe a Hofner semi-acoustic on the wall. Every afternoon, after school, Martin would come in and play ‘til closing time. Though never officially putting it on layaway, I saw at least one guy told ‘sorry, it’s sold’ when he enquired. Then Mr T came in one Saturday morning and emptied his piggy bank on the counter as a deposit. My Dad had a discreet word with his parents. The next time Martin came in with more savings he sat down to play it as usual. Come closing time my Dad told him he coukd take it home if he promised to look after it and continued to pay it off when he could. He did, on both counts. Clearly a player destined for great things!
