My Fuzz Factory loves my Caline EQ (and I love them both together).

I have a Fuzz Factory that I love, though I've been struggling to get more low end out of it without letting things get stupid-loud (which, I admit, is a bit of a Quixotic enterprise). I've considered getting a Fat Fuzz Factory (basically a FF with a switch for no bass boost, some bass boost and ridiculous bass boost). I also looked up some apparently simple mods to let more bass get through for cheap.

Then I traded a cheap acoustic I've been trying to get rid of forever for a Nano Big Muff and a Caline 10-band EQ. I figured the Muff would at least be fun to mess with, and that the EQ would be a fun companion for my drum machine.

Last night I finally had time to try them both out. After messing with the Muff for a bit I decided to plug in the FF to compare, when I thought to use the FF along with the EQ to see what I could get form that.

Holy hell. It's amazing. I still have to mess with it both to dial things in right and to get used to what band on the EQ does what, but I was able to boost the bass as well as the right mids to keep some clarity and make it sing-y, while slightly cutting all but the highest frequencies (I kept some of the highest highs for a little nasty to balance out the smooth).

So I now worship at the Church of the EQ Pedal, at least as far as my fuzz is concerned. I'm going to have to try it on the Muff next.

While we're on the subject, anyone have (a link to) a manual for the Caline EQ? I can't seem to access their website and I like to keep .pdf's of the manuals for all my toys.

An EQ pedal is a powerful tool. Like you, I use an EQ in conjunction with fuzz, as I find most fuzz pedals to be really extreme, either too much bass, too much fizz, not enough mids, etc. An EQ pedal makes just about any fuzz useable for me.

I'll probably still use the EQ to mess with my drum machine (I can just plug the drum machine into my whole pedalboard), but for guitar purposes I think I'll put it in the same loop as my fuzz so that one stomp will engage them both. I love this combo.

I've played with the Muff a bit as well, and I'm not as convinced there. But I need to get to know it better.
