Massive condolences. This world is a very messed up place. I have no answers
The real problem with social media is that people stop being people. They gain a 3rd person perspective and view others as something less than human, using labels to reduce them to something other than people, and posting really vial things as a result.
No amount of "bad decisions" should result in murder, that should never happen between people. There is no easy way to wipe away the pain, but you have to always remember to just keep moving on with your life regardless of the situation.
The comedian Robert Schimmel told the story about the advice he received from his Father in law. Robert was battling brain cancer at the time and was about to give up the fight when he asked his Father-in-law (a Bataan death march survivor) how do you find the fight to continue? His Father-in-law told him the story where a guy fell in front of him during the march. He stopped to help the guy up when a Japanese soldier stuck the muzzle of a machinegun in his ribs and simply said "If you want to live, keep moving". Then the soldier shot the fallen to death.
The key to survival and getting through the toughest of times is simply to keep moving.
Toad, that's just horrible. I'm so sorry you and your friend are dealing with this. Offering condolences feels so small, but it's all I got.
Dark as hell. But true.
I like playing guitar.
Very sad. I'm sorry the family, and also friends like you, are having to go through such a difficult tragedy.
I guess summer in Idaho is violent, never knew it.
That’s horrible. My deepest condolences.
Sorry for your Loss.
Do what you can to help your friend.
I never joined Bookface for the very reasons you just described.
Terrible news. At 20, most are still just a pup. I don't have Facebook, Twitter, etc. accounts. But I do see those reader comments following news articles. If I ran an online newspaper, I'd require readers to put their names next to their comments. In other words, angry readers could write whatever uniformed, baseless, and inflammatory accusations they want, but they'd have to put their name on their drivel. My two cents.
There's nothing to be said that brings back the dead. The best we can do is comfort the living so they are not alone.
The world is backwards and social media isn't helping the situation.
No one should be using Facebook unless they absolutely have to.
give your friend a big healing hug from me , I dislike this sort of news because I can feel it , stay close to her if she is by herself she will need all the support she can muster , Warm thoughts and wishes come her way
There is a term called "blog trolls" which is really not accurate. They should be called "blog predators". Many times it comes from nowhere and it is not really grounded in fact, compassion, or respect for the victims. In my opinion it is a form of torture and bullying. I have had encounters with these kinds of people over the stupidest subjects. Judging a person that you don't really know is the worst form of ignorance. I have no answers on this subject other than to try an ignore them somehow.
I’m deeply sorry for this tragedy.
Knowing her closed ones care and that they’re here for her like you are, is more important that all this social media BS.
That is just awful. Be a friend to your friend and give support. I use Facebook but I am moving from anything political.
The world can be an ugly place.
