This shows life in the cattle country.

Hope you like our " Country Music."
Written by Kerryn Tolhurst, played by Dingoes many moons ago.
This is James Reyne and James Blundell. I used to look like JB the darker haired guy at the time this was made.
Let me know what you think of Oz country.

What a great song. Enjoyed it very much.

Back when I was young I loved a group called The Seekers.

Great song. For some reason, reminded me of this. Yeah, New Zealand, not Australia.....but close enough for us Yanks.

Actually, just checked.....they WERE formed in Melbourne.

Anything by Kevin Bloody Wilson works for me!

And although he's actually Scottish, he was a "Stralyin" when he recorded this tune.

This one kills. He's a master.

Kinda pitiful when an Aussie singer comes up with a much better country song than any of today's so-called American country performers.
Would like the steel better if it wasn't so buried in the mix.

Judith Durham is still one of my favorite girl singers. And, she was a hottie!

Great shout on Colin Hay - fantastic musician.

As for Australia, there is only one, almost the national anthem:

As mentioned and like the Young brothers, an Aussie via Scottish emigration, but I'll allow it. He is so amazing.

Love this version. Incredible song all the way around... lyrics, melody, that vocal. Jeez.

I worked in a guitar store, Brian Sampson's, at a young age (14). Keith Potger actually came in with a Gibson Hummingbird 12 string and complained how he couldn't keep it in tune. It was a 10,000 AUD instrument at the time.
Good ol' Brian said " The kid'll show you how". So I spent the next hour showing him how to use 5/8" or 40mm. of string past the post and how to wind one over the top, the rest (2) below. that's all i knew. Anyway I taught Keith how to make/ play a guitar in tune. To this day I still use that method ( see stewmac.com on You Tube). I don't like locking tuners as if the string goes slack it's far harder to twick.
He was doing some strings by the end of it, that being my teaching method, to get him doing it right.

The Seekers actually hit no.1 in 1969 with " The Carnival is Over" and knocked off the Beatles and the Rolling Stones that year when battling for no.1 position worldwide.
Judith Durham still sings that song beautifully, last year, but I believe has retired now. She was great and could make a grown man cry. My dear old Dad loved the seekers.
