Back in the late 70's I purchased my first ever pedal. Not sure why on earth I bought a flanger instead of something more common like a distortion, wah or fuzz. Anyway I thought it was pretty cool when I had it.

I lent it to a buddy sometime in the early 80's & kind of lost track of him & the pedal.
Fast forward to a few years ago when I reconnected with him. I had totally forgotten that I lent him the pedal.
We decided recently to get together with a couple of old friends to dust off the cobwebs & jam a little bit. It was a lot of fun & we've decided to get together a few more times & maybe jam at a summertime party or two.
When we got together, he brought a crumpled brown paper bag with him & said he had something for me. I looked inside & saw my old flanger! I had to laugh at it's condition... It's missing a knob, the screws & battery terminals are missing & it looks like his dog must've crapped on it a number of times.

I'm actually pretty excited to see if I can bring this thing back to life. I don't have an 18v power supply, but I have one on order & have also ordered a couple battery terminals on order from amazon as well.

I might need a tetanus shot before I start working on it. Wish me luck!

Forty year ago would put it around 1980? Lets see why you got a phaser?

    Released in 1975

    Released in 1977

And released in 1980 for the guitar afficianado who had to have a FLANGER!!

Wow I kind of relived my musical roots running these down.

EHX pedals look like that whether they are well used or forgotten in a closet. It is part of their charm.

This thread reminds me that I borrowed an Ibanez flanger and phase shifter from a friend about that long ago...
    I'll have to find them.

I would at least decontaminate the surface.... ha ha

my first pedal was around the same time.... the MXR Flanger... the one that only runs on 120VAC. I still have it, it works. I have half of the original box too... it has my mini spoke shaves in it

before you attack it with a soldering iron ,take some 99% alcohol and a toothbrush to clean any corrosion off of the pc board , look for any broken traces on the board and have fun , I hope you can jump start this puppy!

I would not loan anymore gear to the old "Friend".
    But that's just me.

You might try reaching out to the manufacturer. They might get a kick out of the fact that one is still around and may even be willing to repair it for you. Can't hurt to ask.
