    Highway Robbery!

You, Sir, are the Dick Turpin of Pawn Shop Pickers. :D

(and unlike the staff at the shop under scrutiny, you can Google Mr Turpin.....)

It does but he "saved" enough money he can buy 5-8 sets of pickups.

As ambassador for European guitar price purchasers, I would like to communicate that we all vomited with envy, and will never forgive you

I would also like to forewarn you that some people who pay Australian prices put out a contract on your life before being locked in a mental institution to protect the public and themselves

Just off to hospital myself doubled over with envy and unable to breathe properly

    lol.

I bought an entire harness/control plate/pickup assembly out of one for pennies. They seemed to get slammed everywhere.

Congrats that is a good one!!
I regularly steal stuff from Pawn Shops round here.
Have a USA Custom 92 Washburn MG 104 I snagged for $160 OTD for example. First year of Production when Grover Jackson was running that Chicago Custom Shop and the SN is get this 008! Have a 07 PRS Custom 24 Royal Blue Pau Birds Brazilian Rosewood board was dead mint unplayed in the case all case candy and tags $800 OTD. MSR on that guitar was over $6K street over $4K. Just bought a MINT super rare one year only EL 34 powered 1991 Hot Rod Mod Carvin X50B head in a real Anvil Flight case for $200 that will give a Soldano Hot Rod 50 all it can handle. Got a black face 65 Super for $275 a few years ago. Dust cap on one of the 10's had come off and was rattling around cost me under 50 to get repaired. Deals are out there just have to look for them.

$100.00 is about right for that guitar.

Nice find, I’ll give you $300.00 for it. I have a couple of hwy 1 Telecasters and I think they’re as good as any...

    Thanks guys.

I just got the guitar back from my guitar tech yesterday.

    It needed a little TLC.

I love the neck tone on this guitar and the middle setting is usable, but the bridge pickup is just too bright and harsh for my liking.

What bridge pickups have you guys used for a replacement in your Highway 1's.

I'm pretty sure I'm going to replace it, but I'd like to know what bridge pickup pairs well with the stock Highway 1 neck pickup.

Thanks in advance for any help.

I have found some incredible bargains at pawn shops too. Two tele’s in particular are worth mentioning. The most recent one was a G&L ASAT (USA) that I got for $140. That particular shop looks up auction prices, etc. on the internet, but I am sure they were looking at prices for the imported Tribute series. My best score of all time though, was an early 1970’s tele in all original, mint condition. I ended up paying around $1000 for it, but it is worth a lot more. I’m sure they priced it as if it was a recent USA. model, not realizing it was a vintage one. It’s a real beauty.

You found a pawn shop owner who has no access to the internet?!?!

    Awesome!

    That’s incredible.

Now and again every dog finds a bone by accident. Good for you man! Great story.

Now you can spend the change getting it refinished in Shell Pink or something else funky ;)

I never find any bargains at pawn shops and in fact many times they ask as much and in some cases more than you can buy a new one for ! Great snag!

I thought my almost brand new unplayed American Standard that I got from $500 from a medical resident who didn't have time to play was the best deal ever. It was good but this deal you found is better! Much better! I guess it's time to start practicing the guitar and leave the pawnshops to the experts! Lol! Great find!

Man...I'm so jealous. Here in NYC the only thing you'll find in our pawn shops are overpriced electronics and jewelry. Craigslist is the only place to find a score. Great find!
