Hi guys. Has anyone been able compare the Carbon Copy Bright (or the mini with the Bright switch engaged) with the current Ibanez Mini analog delay? Just wondering if the CC with the bright on is similar to the Ibanez?

Thanks.

In the past few years I have tried both at different times. I liked the Ibanez better, but the Boss Dm-2w blows them both away.

Be aware that the Ibanez AD mini is a tone sucker. I noticed high-end roll off with mine and asked a tech about this, then he traced the circuit and confirmed there are two caps in between the signal and ground in bypass.
I remember when a buffer is placed before the pedal the tone suck was minimized, so it's probably not a huge deal for most guys though. It was a bit shock for me that a company like Ibanez could lie in the ads, whether it was intentional or not.

The TS mini didn't have the same tone suck, btw.

Although, BOSS makes my favorite Delays 🥰

Have not tried the Ibanez, but Carbon Copy Bright is just about a perfect analog delay to my ears. Darkish and natural sounding, but clear. I run the Carbon Copy Deluxe with the bright switch usually engaged, which seems to balance things perfectly.

I have a bunch of other more niche delays (Catalinbread Belle Epoch, Adineko, Echorec), which are fantastic when you're in the mood for something weirder, but IME the Carbon Copy is a great all-round analog delay for everyday use.

Bought and sold both. Didn't like either. Too hard to control. Just muddied the sound.

Used a Boss digital delay for a while. It sounded too mechanical. Still haven't found a delay I like, and delay isn't important enough for me to spring for a Strymon or another more expensive. It's a clever effect, but it doesn't really improve my music.

(Maybe nothing can.)

Did you have the CC Bright or the Mini with the Bright switch? If so, did you still find it muddy?

I’ve seen a demo for a Maxon AD9 Pro and it’s not muddy at all, but it’s not cheap either!

I don't think so. Don't remember. It was a long time ago.

Just listened to a couple of Youtube demos. Sounds fine.

CC really sits well with the guitar tone. It doesn't overshadow. It just seems to sit politely behind where it belongs. Never experienced that with any other delay. Very useful pedal. I have the original and it doesnt seem dark to me but I play mostly brighter guitars. If I were buyiong one now I would get the mini for its size and bright switch if I ever found it necessary.

I had a DD-3 for a while. To many settings for my old brain to get wrapped around. Just could not get along with it.
Traded it off for a MXR CC (standard) and never looked back. The CC is perfect, for me.

I am not a big delay guy, but have been having good luck with
the mini. Just subtle for ambience. Band mate had cc years ago.
He liked it. But he did more than I do with delays.
