So I had a phase sometime back where I really wanted an octave fuzz. one in particular, the blue box. I like the lo fi-ness if the sound but since then I've also found I like the flexibility of the fender blender. Both are great unique options for me. Not really interested in any others accept maybe the robot devil.
What do you guys think? Blue box? or fender blender?

Isn't the Fender Blender an octave up effect? And the Blue Box an octave down? That should be the deciding factor right there.

I love octave effects myself. The Blue Box is fun for video game sounds, but it has a very small usable range. To be honest, I usually prefer to use an individual octave effect along with a distortion/fuzz of choice, because the usable range and tracking tend to be slightly better.

Yeah I guess they're sort of apples and oranges in that regard. And yeah I like the 8-bit style thing, but the fender blender is more versatile. Though id say the price also accounts for that.

A friend of mine built a fender blender clone some years ago, and i remember it to be pretty way cool! I tried one out at a store a couple of months ago, really cool still.
It's like a more versatile green ringer with a fuzz..
The blue box i have only tried briefly IRL and toyed around with in Amplitdue(not really representative..)
As mentioned it gives you octave down glitchyness and a straight fuzz-tone.
Seeing that the blue box can be had for 50-60$ i'd just go for that now, and maybe get a blender later, or a take on the green ringer, then you have the glitchy down octave and the glitchy ring moddy up thing going on. You can get both a green ringer clone and the blue box for less than the Blender i guess

Two very different beasts. The MXR Blue Box is a sonic nightmare - more synth-like than anything else. The Fender Blender has a more traditional fuzz sound with the option of adding an octave above.

I love the Blender, but its too big and it has a bit of volume loss unless you keep the tone boost engaged. The Blue Box is my fav pedal for destroying everything. Its hard to do much else with it. Think Sonic Youth.
