Just dug this out after a long time away from it
Dang, it's killler!
That one always tempted me. How does it do with low-mid gain? Clearly not the intention of the design, but figured I'd ask, lol.
Surprisingly- very well.
This may be my new go-to.
Certainly into my Mesa Rocket 4Forty, anyway
The Rocket doesn't get you there on its own?
So, I've always found the best platform for totally ultra awesome tone is to start with a great clean tone for the base of that, and find a drive pedal that works great on top of that. I know lots of guys don't go that route, but it is far and away my preference. By that method, to my ear, I get a fullness that I can't get with amp-only drive/distortion.
That's what I do with the Mesa/MXR.
That's cool. Whatever works for you. Have fun with that pedal, but of course you are obligated to play Eruption, lol.
I have this on my board as well it’s the only true metal pedal I have, in saying that it does do lower gain od tones well. The built in noise gate and boost are what makes this really useful.
Is the boost on the 5150 independent? Can you use it without the gain side? Sort of like a Fulldrive 3?
