How do they compare in terms of sound quality?

Just ordered a MM+ and will let you know for sure after A/B-ing it with the MPP in person. After some very unscientific listening and tinkering (details below), I think they're going to end up comparable with each having its own limitations. The MPP has a few things that are definitely not good (fuzz, octave) where Fender's equivalents in the MM+ sounded pretty good in the Anderton's video.

Last night, I re-watched the Anderton's MM video from three years ago and played mine alongside it to calibrate expectations of what the audio from YouTube is like. Everything was routed into my audio interface and monitored directly with good headphones. Haven't had the thing out in awhile and I agree with @Vibro Chimp that there's a sterile quality about most of it.

If Anderton's recorded its MM and MM+ videos the same way, the MM+'s built-in patches sound a lot better. Based on the settings visible in the MM+ video, I recreated Fender's Driven Deluxe and Uber Metal in my MPP as closely it allowed and found the sound quality just as good.

I have the MM parameter data that leaked out of Fender and will try setting up some MM+ patches based on that as I get the time.

I was really hoping they would have upgraded it so you could use Wireless headphones/Earbuds. Big miss in my opinion. I own the regular MM not sure if I’m upgrading yet

Not really. There is an inherent latency issue with bluetooth technology as a whole. Otherwise, many guitar companies would have already offered this feature. They are just waiting until Bluetooth industry solves the latency issue.

FYI, you are not going to notice the latency with recorded music but once you start playing live instrument, it's definitely noticeable.

I’m not upgrading my MM until its replacement is able to profile my existing amp(s) and pedals and model their sound and feel fairly accurately. That’s what I’m waiting for.

I’m nearly sure it’s going to eventually happen, it’s just a matter of when. Then you’d have a true silent+mobile version of your gig rig.

I've got the original, so I'm loathe to shell out another arse squeezing amount of cash, for a few miniscule updates on a new version.
I really like my OG MM, so I’m sure when it dies, I’ll really like the new one, too! Glad to see product being refreshed and improved.

This first one has great tones. This one looks to have more to enjoy, and works with a phone app, which is a plus.
As mentioned the new one has an app for your phone (never liked the way the original was setup, found it not ergonomic at all) AND you can use Apple earbuds or Bluetooth headphones with it. That's huge for me as I hate standard wired headphones. Controlling it with my phone is a big plus for me. I got my original version used for $50 so buying the new one for $129 isn't so painful. May have to try it.

Nope. It only receives Bluetooth audio from your phone. It does not send audio over bluetooth. You gotta use wired earphones. As i mentioned in an earlier post, Bluetooth technology (at the moment) has inherent latency that is not suitable for live applications.

You can use Bluetooth to jam along, but not to monitor. You’ll still need wired headphones.

Hmm. I swear I saw a video that said you could use earbuds but now I see Sweetwater has a note at the end of their description that says Bluetooth headphones are not compatible. Well that’s a bummer. I’m not sure I want to spend $129 just to get the iPhone app.

All of the processing is done in the unit; the mobile app is just a control panel.

Won't work without the unit as well.

The reason Waza Air headphones are wireless is that they operate on radio frequency. Boss used their already existent RF wireless units by placing the receiver inside the headphones and keeping the transmitter the same as they already had. The Bluetooth the Waza units use in the headphones is for listening to music from your tablet or phone, for playing along with. Bluetooth lag hasn’t been significantly shortened to make it practical for musicians yet.

MM+ does not play well with my Slapback echo pedal. That’s ok, can get a slap any number of ways in the app. Beautiful Fender amp tone just went out the door when engaged…..just tried it for grins.

Edit: Sounds AMAZING with my Firefly 2-P90 LP Special type. Damn. Created a couple patches from the ground up too, easy peasy.

Thanks for the info. Being able to use Bluetooth earphones is huge. I’ll definitely get one when my original MM craps out. I got mine on sale for $79 dollars and I’ve really enjoyed it on trips or late at night quiet playing.

So if I’m in my living room. Can I Bluetooth connect the headphones then open up my music service and play that to a speaker while playing my guitar through the MM2 amp? That would be a huge reason to upgrade for me. Sorry this is my 3rd question I’m asking in this thread. I’m just not quite following.

You CANNOT connect your headphones/speakers to MM/MM+ via Bluetooth, full stop.

However, your phone can connect to MM+ over bluetooth. MM+ only plays the audio from your phone but the sound only comes out from the wired-headphone jack. So you hear both your guitar signal from MM+ and music from your phone through the wired-headphone jack on MM+.

I'll add that depending on your posture and playing position, these aren't great for guitars with a bottom loading jack. They're too flimsy to get bumped around in your Telecaster or Les Paul. However, they are perfect with a top-loading jack, like a Strat or SG.

I do it from my iPad but it works great and sounds awesome. Guess since you’re on the receiving end of the Bluetooth from the amp that’s why no latency. God I’m such a Luddite, thanks Fender for making this so even I can use it 😘
