I have a thick enough mustache that it looks normal with my beard.

But if I shaved everything else, it would look pretty pitiful.

I rarely trim my mustache or beard. I could probably do a handlebar mustache, but I don't want to. I'm not into unnatural acts like haircuts, shaving and waxing my 'stache.

Quite a few years ago now, I was getting set to order coffee for me and the missus at a coffee bar. The young barista had his back to me. When he turned around, I saw he had one of those translucent "beards" that really is just a week (or two, depending) worth of stubble, and trimmed to within an inch of its life. He hadn't seem me standing there, and when he turned around and saw Gandalf the White wearing a Stetson, he literally gasped. Then I guess he blurted out the first words that popped into his head: "Wow! Do you have to brush that thing?!?":lol:

Smart @$$ that I am, I shot back, "Occasionally."

I have only had a mustache for forty years mainly with a beard. I have never had a handlebar mustache. I agree with the it is too much work and you won’t have it in two months.

Nope. Don’t have much luck with the facial hair: patchily and ridiculous looking

I've had a mustache since college and then it turned into a beard over 30 years ago.

Man, Don! Your 1972 self could have been a stand-in for Chuck Negron!

I stopped shaving years ago and just use a electric trimmer, I vary it having the Magnum pi, Handlebar, Walrus, Designer stubble, full beard etc. I occasionally shave it all off but it hurts growing it back in after a coupe weeks. Ingrown hairs, prickly sensation etc so it's best to retain some growth. I take it down lower in summer and go longer in winter. It acts like a face beanie.

    Is your wife kinky?
Because, obviously your 1 year old is not going to get it, she has an ulterior motive

Can't image what that guy's butt crack looks like, or at least I don't want to.

    I've only grown terrible mustaches.

I'm having a bad hair life.

I’ve had a bad hair life, too.
I can grow some whiskers though.
    Hmmm, maybe I should consider a “comb-up”?
    Uh, maybe not.

Back in the army our squad would all grow mustaches while in the field for training. Our 1SG made everyone but me shave theirs off. "He looks like a f***ing 80's traffic cop!"

When ever I see a handlebar mustache I expect to be in for some great harmony or irony...

Oh, it must have been misconstrued somewhere, I’ve been working on it already! His birthday party is in two weeks. Been growing for a good 2 1/2 months now. I’ll shave off the beard the day of his party, HOPEFULLY, leaving me with a killer mustache. A9BD31D8-C683-48B2-B065-767B7D10DC48.jpeg 03EE7660-19FE-459B-9A67-7ED69B6BB67A.jpeg

If you can't get the curlies for a handle bar, maybe just tack on some fake eyelashes! :D

    Cheers,
    Doug
