    Hi all,

Any experiences installing a Musikraft neck into a Warmoth body?

    A generally good fit?

    Thank you

I've bought a couple of Musikraft necks in the recent past for fixing to Fender USA spec bodies and each time, found that the fit was a sloppy one. Make sure the manufacturer gives you the dimensions of your particular item before purchase.

    Thank you both.
I tried a Musikraft neck on a Fender MIM body and was OK, not super tight, but ok

That's why I ask about the specific combination of MK neck + W body...

Jupiter: you tell me it should be fine from experience or theoretically?

I have used 3 Musikraft necks in the last 6 months or so; they have all been just superb.

But wood changes, so it should never come as a surprise if a little work is needed to get a perfect fit.

I suspect that Musikraft's QC is at least the equal of FMIC though.

No doubt Musikraft necks are of very good quality, mine was.

But my concern is more about its fit into a Warmoth body. Maybe they generally fit tight or loose or... on Warmoth bodies in particular

They should all be cut to Fender specs, but every body and every neck will change after it's been cut. Maybe the change is so microscopic that it still produces a snug fit, maybe not.

Even Fender bodies and Fender necks show some irregularities.

The best answer you are going to get is "yes, it should fit fine".

They are both high quality operations and should be very close to Fender specs. I wouldn't worry about it, but you might have to fiddle with it a bit.

Even if you grabbed a random neck and body at the Fender plant, you might have to fiddle with it a bit...

Edit: I guess I just paraphrased KevinB... what he said!

I think the basic fit is likely to be fine. Something related, that you may not care about:

Muskraft's forte is matching intricate details from various FEIC production periods - slavish duplication and a licensed headstock.

The Warmoth bodies always were the most differently shaped from Fender, to give them that edge in the "deniability" department. Even though Ken and the others have since won the lawsuit and FMIC no longer is poised to challenge someone else body shapes, Ken Warmoth sees no reason to change the shape of his bodies to make them perfectly match the others.

So, super "authentic" neck and not at all authentic body. Might not please the eye. Other folks don't see what the fuss is about. ;)

    I know Boris, thank you.

I care about body's shape but for this project I may live with it...

I had the pleasure of taking a virgin 2006 Fender American apart and noticed they had coated the heel and pocket with wax.
I do the same on my builds, wax for the neck pocket, under the bridge plate. Heat it a little, tighten again.

Why do you put wax in the pocket?
