I found this guy quite amazing.
does your dog do this?
My dog howls like heck when I 'play' harmonica, not when I play guitar though. Maybe she's trying to tell me something.
Mine gets a squeaky toy and squeaks along when I play. I find it interesting that she associates my guitar playing with random noise making.
Maybe you suck half the time on harmonica? ok, just kiddin'
you think she'd get a different toy if you played bass or mandolin?
interesting indeed. I wonder what goes on with them.
My Whippet BoBo has no sense of rhythm whatsoever . Her Tempo can go from Molto Adagio to Presto in the blink of an eye.
What's really awesome is he does the whole thing falsetto.
"Speak Softly Love" has the exact same effect on me. And don't quit your day job, Basenji, you're no Seamus:
my Jupiter (flat coated retriever) who died last week. always enjoyed my playing Hoedown from rodeo, and Ballad of Billy the Kid by Joel on my piano, but duke (mutt) who is still alive freaking loves me playing bass he leans against the bass cab its so cute. he also likes when my ex GF played Rap too so IDK
So, that's a Basenji?
My dog is superficially pretty similar looking but she barks and basenjis don't.
My dog doesn't ever come over to see me play or make noise - she's always ignored me while I play unless there's thunder and lightning, then she's right next to me no matter what:
She's liable to wait until I finish playing and get up; then she'll vocalize and tell me she'd like her walk, please.
I am very sorry to hear you just lost your dog, G-guitar!
A friend of mine had a little terrier that could be got going by simply softly "wooing" to him. Years ago, I had a fine dog; Duke, who would sing with me on the porch. Duke had an infinitely better voice than that mutt though...
When I sing and play the guitar, my dog stares at me - then he leaves the room.
My parents schnoodle (thats a schnauzer x poodle for those not hip to cross breeds with stupid names), Max is a howler but only when I play, not when dad does! He seems to like country lead and Black Sabbath in equal amounts.
we also just lost our beloved terrier Cece...(full story)
CeCe and I had a special affinity; she was my late night companion, curled up here at my feet , long after the family had gone to bed, as i blogged or wrote or researched or edited or practiced. She particularly loved the oud, and was even known to nudge its case if I wasn't playing, as if to ask for more.
boris, you may have a Mountain Feist (try google images for pictures of them). We have one and everyone mistakes him for a Basenji.
Here is Sammy. He looks like the Basenji in the video, but he's a Mountain Feist. He likes to howl along with sirens and harmonicas.
Fiest, aka rat terrier, lots of variation in the look of the breed, but that is what came to mind for me.
Basenji's are not a super popular dog there are probably very few Basenji mixes around.
Wonder if the dogs lookin for a band-Im down!
