I can't do it. I love music, maybe that is why.

I want to hear it, tear it apart, and think of all the extra drums rolls, uneeded
cymbol crashes, voices good and bad.

    Also, I can't concentrate.

    Need to work.

Also, went on a fishing charter once and guy had loud music over intercom.
Could not handle it. Need to hear a screaming reel, not a speaker.

Maybe I am to fuddy duddy.

Can’t do it, just find it distracting, more so if it’s a number I like! Seldom have it on in the car either. If my wife insists I just have to turn it off when I’m finding my way or even looking for a parking place.

Yes, but I generally put on electronic, trance, retrowave, that sort of thing.

It depends on what part of my job I’m doing. There haven’t been many other people around at work lately, so I’ve been listening to more than I typically do.

Probably the only time I listen to music while not playing along with it. Usually Jazz or old r&b.

    Complicated vertical installations/inset shelves ?
    Nothing

Big open flat work ? Music

Homeowner home ? Podcast or nothing.

    So - depends...

Nope. I get too distracted. I will start analyzing chord progression and lyrics and solos, thinking "ooh could my band pick up this song", etc.

Another one is camping. Drives me nuts to be at a nice quiet and serene campsite and your neighbors pull in and blast music 24 hours a day. Even if it's music I like, it still irritates me.

    Cheers,
    Doug

Can’t work without it, actually. Also can’t exercise, do dishes, or really anything without music. What’s the point?

Only thing that isn’t improved by music is enjoying the quiet, but that’s more the plain paradoxical truth of it than a choice.

It depends on the degree of concentration needed for the work.
    Setting up guitars, yes.
    Almost anything else, no.

Actually, the last time we were car camping, we heard music from another camp site -- live bluegrass! People gathered around and it was fun!
