I was not aware mushrooms had skin.
What is there to peel in a mushroom?
Well yeah, in the UK we make mashed potatoes with winter white spuds, fine for jackets or wedges but you wouldn't want to eat them boiled really (not even if they were mashed in) I obviously don't peel new potatoes. (salad types) .... actually mash is about the only time I would. When I have sausage and mash, I don't want lumps of skin in the mash, I want it smooth and creamy... I get plenty of vitamins from elsewhere.
$15/gram and you want me to PEEL them?!?
Mine come dried and I roll them in papers and light them. No peeling Required.
I haven't read this thread, but I thought I would offer that I pretty much HATE mushrooms, but my wife loves them. I view them as sort of a disgusting growth that sprouts up uninvited from the eath. Having said that, I make not an utterance when I am served them in gravies, various dishes, and soups, pizza, and probably something I've forgotten. Why? Because thankfully she doesn't over indulge in them, and I have drank from water seeping into cow tracks so I reckon they ain't gonna kill me. (maybe)
You could probably peel this 'un. Amazing.

All I know is that my Grandma said that the more crap and germs you eat, the more resistant your body is.
Also, peeling mushrooms sounds as difficult as taking the stink off a horses rear end.
Nope. But I did have a friend that peeled grapes before she ate them.
I just brush them under running water and cut off the end of the stem. Drain on a paper towel to get rid of any water that gets trapped inside.
Slice, saute in butter with some chopped garlic, throw in some wine and whatever meat/seafood you have planned, a splash of cream at the end makes a sauce. Quick and easy French style home cooking.
I've never peeled a mushroom in my life.
I remove the stalks from ****akes, and reserve them to make stock
Yikes the curse word filter removed part of the Japanese name of a common mushroon
Throw that into the same category as "tone wood", lacquer "breathing", etc. Another thing you never knew you needed to know.
It's a long i so it's shiitake.
Peel mushrooms? We only peel potatoes and M&M's.
Peel mushrooms? Never!
I'm a peeler.
