Multi Guitar Stands

I just got in trade deal one of those guitar stands that holds 7 guitars; Proline PLMS7 from MF
the neck leans against the back. Looks like it may put some side-to-side strain on the neck. I stopped by a music store near 63d and Kedzie, my man said just turn them to face the other direction every week or so and all will be good. Any suggestions/advice? I usually use a hanging stand for each bass.

I don’t use a stand like that but I wouldn’t be concerned with any strain on the neck

I would be curious if the foam used is safe for the finish’s my guitars have

I've got the same rack, only in a five guitar capacity. It won't hurt the neck at all, the weight of the guitar leaning on the neck is less than 1/20 of the tension the neck is under from the strings.

I've got one, holds 9. I put black cloth towels over the foam above and below, to protect instrument finishes from the foam rubber.

All foam is not created equal, if you have a modern finish you will be fine. I would not trust vintage instruments with a foam lined stand.

I've got three of those stands; two hold seven and one holds five.

There is so little pressure on the neck, that the matter is inconsequential.

As for the foam, I cover each base with a black towel, and the neck support areas with small pieces of cotton fabric. No foam comes in contact the the guitars.

I have the 7 guitar unit saves alot of space I have not had any issues, so far

I use a 5-axe version live (even though I don’t carry 5 guitars anywhere)...gives a slot to the other guitarist(s) or bassist.

I have a bunch of single stands, but just bought one that holds three of my most played guitars. Much better than constantly breaking them out of the closet.

I use the Hercules brand for 5 instruments, the foam they use is supposed to be safe for any finish and thus far seems to be true. After 8 years now, no effects on any my guitar finishes.

Brilliant idea, what’s the going rate for rent?

I've had one of those for years. Right here in the office. Side stress? It's a non event. Even if it were "a thing" there is very little side force because the guitar sits nearly vertical.
I have to say though, you have to be careful putting a guitar in, often the body rests on one bottom bar instead of both, then the guitar rotates sideways when you release it. Not a big deal, just have to watch that it rests on both.
Theat Hercules shown in post 11 is probably an improvement.

Hercules racks work great for me. I wouldn’t trust the foam quality on a Proline brand stand.

Appreciate all the feedback - my basses that I keep in it are cheap, most expensive one I was out $35.00 and is actually the one I usually use for engagements; I keep my Fender Player Strat in a case in the closet, same with my Squier Jazzmaster and Squier Vintage Modified Jazz Bass.
