The only part that Mozart totally completed.

    Requiem aeternam = Eternal rest

    Introitus = Entrance

My favourite part is the "tuba mirum", when the trombone summons the dead to rise for their final reckoning before the throne. I sing it in the shower! I'm a bathroom baritone.

Just googled this. "tuba mirum" translates to "sound strange".
    WTF does google know.

That would be me. But according to https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tuba_mirum_(disambiguation)

    Tuba, mirum spargens sonum
    Per sepulchra regionum,
    Coget omnes ante thronum.

    translates to

The trumpet, casting a wondrous sound
    In tombs,
    Summons all before the throne.

    That sounds better.
Latin is a very cool language, I wish they still taught it when I was a kid.

    Thanks for this thread

Mozart is so "courtly" half the time...then WHAM!...he can really go heavy. Seek out his variations on Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star sometime. not kidding. Here's some more doom Mozart for ya -

Wow, didn't know that. We did the Lacrymosa in high school choir and like most, it's still my favorite from the Requiem. That bass version of it above is incredible.

Thanks for the memory. We did this in college (the A Capella choir) as our final concert, with orchestra, my senior year. We actually had well known local soloists. I'm reliving some shivers now. ;)
    PS.....it was the full Requiem.
