That would be the one I play the most: G -C -D. Then I often capo 2 and play the same progression which then becomes A - D - E.

G-C-D: the People's Chords. eventually, you are allowed to add the E minor.

Right now, the three chord progression I use the most is the A Dorian blues progression, Am7, D7, Em7. The Am7 flirts with Am6 but always comes back. I’ve used a two chord variant for a bridge, Em7, Am7.

Once upon a many-moons-ago, I was asked to come play mandolin at church. The leader told me if I could play G - C - D, and owned a capo, I was good enough to play with them. ;)

This. But to me both sets would be classic rock chords.

The country/rock template makes sense to me.

Last night, though, a Descending line from C to D resolve
    C, G/B, Am, D fell together for a chorus - great satisfaction. :D

if you insist on just three:
    ii, V, I

    Peace - Deeve

But if it isn’t I, IV, V, VI in any order it won’t make it on to the radio. Or maybe I watch too many Rick Beato videos.

AC/DC proved, you don't need to know a lot of fancy chords to sell a lot of records!
