Would anyone like to share any outrageous impulse buy stories?

I'll kick it off...this is kind of embarrassing.

Ok, so the context: I can play 2 chords pretty well, but that's really it.

I just bought a "Fender American Ultra Telecaster". As of 1/22/21 it hasn't arrived yet but it did ship. I'll add pictures when it arrives :)

If I was already a good player, maybe it wouldn't have been an impulse buy?

Oh I am going to edit this post and add the cost of the purchase to complete my shame:

$2,393.01 - which included a Plek, guitar stand, and a leather strap.

It's not an impulse buy if you love it and use it! Your selection is drop dead gorgeous. Great purchase. That new guitar should treat you well for a very long time.

Yeah, houses can definitely be impulse buys. It's easy to "Fall in love" with one!

Yeah but the house wasn't plek'd so you probably got a better deal all told.

    Pictures or it didn’t happen.
A nice guitar will be easier to play so you will be some better and possibly play more which will then improve your playing.
This will of course be followed y seven posts of folks who were paid $50 to take someone’s Squier and it is their best guitar. Don’t believe them.

Monday or Tuesday night about one am I bought the Musician’s Friend Stupid Deal of guitar wall hangers. I really did want them. It falls into the category of late night scrolling.

Did that once. My wife wanted me to look at it. I interpreted that to mean she wanted it, so I bought it. Stayed there for 20 years.

Back in the mid-90s I bought a Jeep Grand Cherokee that I didn't really need. I'm sure there was some idea behind the impulse but I have no memory of what it was.

I think I probably have the example that would be most outrageous to the patrons here. $60 to unlock a character in a CELL PHONE video game. Saw it, didn't have them, wanted them now and not in a month or two. Clicked the button.

No resale value. Just pixels on a screen. Am I proud of it? Not at all. Am I happy with my purchase? Was for about 2 hours. Won't be doing that again. Definition of an impulse buy.

I once went into a music store to buy some strings for my ES-335 and came out an hour later with a 52 AVRI, but then we've all done that at some time or other.
My most expensive impulse buy is pictured below. We were out for a ride and called in for a cup of coffee in their café. It was actually my birthday that day so I felt justified in treating myself when I saw this and had to have it.

Yep. While I will spend two weeks researching which fish tank gravel pump to buy, I have impulse bought a house and a car.

My first quality guitar, back in 1996: A brand new American Standard 3T maple Tele which cost £650.00.. out of the roughly £800.00 redundancy money I had left.

    Me: 'Honey, I'm home'
Ex-wife: 'Hey, how did the job hunting go today?'
    Me: 'Guess what I'VE bought!'
