Will Sergeant - now there's a name we don't see mentioned enough around here! First time I saw them would have been 1980, somewhere in London, The Psychedelic Furs were also on the bill I think.

I distinctly remember thinking I'd seen the future of rock at that gig...

Well, I wanna know who influenced these guys. The Influencers of the influencers of the influencers.

    And I get this:

Ask guys like Dave Evans, Robert Smith and Charlie Burchill how they feel about MacKenzie and Rankine.

I feel like 75% of this thread is just people listing their favorite bands or artists, rather than thinking about who was most influential...

Yep, pretty much. But, hey, it reminded me of some good stuff I’d forgotten and showed me some other stuff I never noticed, so I’m calling it a win.

Certainly not mainstream but no one has mentioned The Fall... I reckon they were a big influence on lots of the Alternative/Indie bands in the 80’s

Queensrÿche was my impossible influence! But Chris DeGarmo has an odd way of playing?! Burned up cassettes backing them up a 1000 times trying to figure parts out?
