    It was a custom made, but simple, guitar strap. I rarely use it as I prefer my simple Souldier Replica Strap.

    In second place would be a capo that had beautiful designs and interchangeable radius. It really sucked.

    This made me laugh out loud. Good stuff.

    I bought 4 Bourns 500K pots. I only needed one. Actually, I really didn't even need one, as evidenced by the fact that all four of these are still in my parts drawer. The deal for a 4-pack was so cheap, and shipped for free. But for what?!

    Of course, I'll use them eventually, but... why?

    I also spent $20 on this...

    For putting a 4-way into my Jaguar. Guess where that still resides.

    Less than a year ago, I bought an iTeach mobile tower featuring AC outlets, USB charging slots, and a 13.5' cord.

    It's got a padded top, for resting cell phones or tablets on.

    Amazon sells them now for $428, but I paid $141 for mine.
    It was considered an 'open box' item, but I can't tell.
    It's brand-new and beautiful.

    Talk about bad timing;
    I bought a music gig utility accessory right as all the gigs ground to a halt.
    :(

    I had a spring reverb tank that mounted on an acoustic guitar.

    [IMG]

    It sounded cool, but wasn't particularly useful. Fun note, it's pictured on a Washburn AE that I sold a few years back that had a B-bender (you can see part of the mechanism through the sound hole). Since I wasn't playing out with it, that was also a bit frivolous, but now I wish that I kept it.

    My wife spent almost 500 bucks on a custom-made hand-tooled leather strap for my first scratch build, matching the color and everything. I was genuinely touched, but as it was my first build, I went straight into making others, and I doubt I played it more than twenty hours... It’s hangin on the wall...

    Closest I've gotten to frivolous would be the knobs on my Toronado;

    They came with chrome knobs stock. I wasn't a huge fan and the would fall off to boot.
    I picked up a fistful of random plastic knobs with set screws for maybe 25cents each at an ham radio conventions outdoor flea market, with the plan of having 4 different knobs. Both volume knobs are the same, tones are different. It looks somewhat funny, but that was deliberate, and I like the feel better.

    Otherwise, its been pickgaurd swaps.

    Probably an ash tray cover.

    I think they look cool. Played with it on for a bit. Kept the guitar with it on while on the stand for a while. Eventually gave up and left it off forever. Just gets in the way in reality.

    90% of my accessory purchases have been frivolous. I don't know why I used to do that. None of them made my playing any better.

    I like gold hardware. I don't understand why people recoil from it.

    I had one of those reverb boxes! Still around somewhere. It was weird but kinda fun. There are worse ways to spend $20. Best use was if you wanted to take a nylon string guitar and make it kinda sound like a gypsy jazz box. They’d have done better if they called it “Instant Django” and marketed it accordingly.

    Lessons on TrueFire.

    half of the free YouTube videos are far more engaging, and more thoroughly describe the content of the lesson in the clickbaity title than TrueFire does in a whole caption.

    Truefire: Jazz basics- basic jazz elements in blah blah blah

    Me: Sweet!

    Truefire instructor: welcome to Jazz basics! This is a guitar- it has 6 strings tuned EADGBE and its spelled G-U-I...

    Me: ****.

    Another Jazz basics module from a new instructor: Welcome to Jazz basics! This is the Fartsniffian mode scale- and here is a run down- can’t keep up? Wait, you didn’t already take reggae basics as a precursor? What are you, stupid?

    Me, again: ****, again...

    When the world opens up I’m going straight to a real person for lessons.

    882F0144-52E2-41AA-85EC-555112B73D0F.jpeg I have a gagillon stone, buffalo horn, ebony, and different jazz III style picks sitting in a drawer. At my age they’ll never be used up and I never need to buy another pick again unless I live to be 123. I saw this idea on a internet Channel and now I actually grab different picks instead of the usual boring red Jazz III. $14 on Amazon.
