@D_Malone for a brief moment you made me think of a hospital experience. Opiates and side effects are not a favorite but wow what a difference when they need to clean you up and figure out all that is broken.

I used to sub ( 2nd or lead guitar) once in a while, in a Baltimore Rock/Americana band that played "Buena" - cool groove!

( the band leader/singer played a real '57 Les Paul Jr. Into a cranked Super Reverb- amazing sound!)

They definitely had their own unique sound.

I grew up with the drummer (Billy Conway). He was a few years older than me, and I was really good friends with his sister (who was my age). He was in the local hometown band ("Steele" named after the county in southern MN where we lived) and they played all around when I was in high school. I did get to jam with him a couple of times too (the guitar player gave me my first lessons).

Billy was also an outstanding hockey player. I played with him on our high school team for a year, then he went on to be the captain of the Yale hockey team.

Sadly, he passed away about a year ago from cancer.

Cheers,
Doug

Just found them a year ago or so. What a unique groove. And he just went down BOOM! live on stage at the age of 46. But what an interesting and unique life he lived and style he had, crafting his own oddly set up instruments that he played amazingly. Seemed about as Bohemian as you could be without starving in the 80's and 90's.

I'm a big fan! A friend of mine turned me on to them in the '90's when "Yes" came out and had asked if I was interested in seeing them at Irving Plaza in NYC. I was "hooked" on them from that show on and was fortunate to see them 3 more times (and meet them twice) before Mark Sandman's passing. I was sad to hear of Billy Conway's passing last year.

They are probably my favorite '90's band and miss seeing them.

On a side note, I also got to see Mark's previous band, Treat Her Right, open for the Replacements in '89. I had no idea that was his band until years later after reading an article on him in Musician magazine. I thought they put on a great show, too!

Hi again.

I’m on a train, heading in to Tokyo to meet a visiting relative. He’s staying in an area called Takadanobaba.

Anyway, so I’m sitting here thinking, maybe I should get something by Morphine. Googled it. It seems Disk Union has a good quality used copy of Cure For Pain, for ¥480 - that’s around £3 / US$3.70.

Which branch? The one in Takadanobaba.

Seems like the Fates are telling me something.
