Deep breath,count to 10......ah that's better.
I think you're right!
So brbadg, still no amp? Seriously? Or is the deep breath for an announcement?
Uh-oh, that doesnt sound good.
I noticed his posts have been removed from his new stomping grounds, TGP,
which was not a good sign either.
O dear. I was looking forward to a happy ending.
Bryan? Can you help?
I just read one of his recent posts on TGP.
Ummm......I don't see that. Did a quick search on TGP under his username and saw many message listings. Quite a few yesterday, in fact.
I really don't know all of what is going on here and certainly hope the OP gets a great amp and is fully satisfied with the product.
As for Eric, I have two of his outstanding tweed clones. The builds weren't fast but the amps are absolutely wonderful. He has been a great help to me and to many, many others here on the TDPRI for years and I am sad to see his absence. I also hope that he gets through whatever challenges life may have thrown at him........
It's like an episode of Dragnet.
Or better yet,
Car 54 where Rrrrrr You?????
A sentiment shared by many members.
Personally I have been hoping for a happy ending, forget the puns.
The reputation of a valued member is on the line.
He may never post here again, but his rep will be around for years, and my hope is that it will be all good.
Another quick amp tech story while we wait:
When I first got my Fender 57 Twin Reissue (used but pristine) it quickly developed an issue. The signal would sometimes intermittently fade in and out and then an internal fuse would blow (not the main fuse you access from the top panel). After replacing this fuse several times I contacted a well-known amp tech in Atlanta. I take it to him and he calls me after a week and says it's done. All the guy had done is replace the caps, and this is on a relatively new amp! He charges me for the unneeded cap job and, of course, the problem still persists.
So I contact another tech who I have heard a lot of good things about, although he's not as well known or as "upscale" as the first. He looks at the fuse holders for the two internal fuses and says, "those fuses aren't in the original schematic for the 5e8a. I'll bet they are there to satisfy some code or other. I'll call Fender and call you back." So I leave the amp with him and in a couple of days he calls back. "They are there to satisfy a code that has to be satisfied for sale in Europe. Your problem is that those fuse holders have oxidized quite a bit. The added resistance makes one of the fuses get hotter and hotter until it finally blows." I'm cheap. So for the past 7 years I've been playing the amp with the circuit simply bypassing those fuses. I know I probably shouldn't have decided on that as a solution, but....
The amp has been in the mail for several days. Calm down.
I could tell you more details about the amp, but you'll see it when you get it. It's a darn nice amp. I'm almost a bit jealous. Eric is now working on my 5E3 chassis. Already got my cabinet too.
I saw yours (cabinet and chassis) mostly complete in person when I visited Eric 2-3 weeks ago or so. He did it up really nicely for you.
I know for a fact it was mailed almost a week ago. You might get it tomorrow.
Well then just picture me sitting here with fingers crossed.
Sadly, probably won't be seeing Eric here anymore, but he's active at the other site.
Hope that this turns out happily.
No one asked for a tracking number?
That would have been my first requirement, especially after this crazy episode.
More patience exists here than I have.
I will let you all know when I receive
I've never gotten a tracking number from Eric. I've dealt with plenty of large OEM suppliers that wouldn't even give me tracking numbers.
I find myself wondering if this thread is a Situation Comedy or a Dramedy.
A Situation Dramedy perhaps?
Just being restless, my apologies.
Sometimes I can't fathom what some are willing to put up with, and even defend.
Really looking forward to seeing the curtain draw to a close on this one, with some righteous tunes being projected from behind it. Please let us know when you get the amp. Maybe even post a pic!
