I have been sending emails and trying to call, but have not been able to make any contact.
It has a bad tube, a buddy came by with a set to try, and the amp came alive. So just gonna order a set of tubes and call it good.

I got an inexpensive, great sounding set for mine from audiotubes.com

After a long research, I ordered this 5 watt amp for my 7 year old grandson.. I have been waiting on an eBay auction, to get him a 3/4 size Squier Strat, to go with it......His mother, [my daughter], now tells me, that he might like a small acoustic instead,, Oh shucks! I do have an acoustic picked out for him, too, from Hondo.. Oh well. I was going to get myself this same amp anyway.. When he goes electric, [if???], He will get what he needs from me...

Do we hear a clean tone demonstrated in this video? I didn't hear it.
At Vol 5 and Tone 5 it sounded over driven to me.
I am curious how the Mono sounds with Volume at 3 and Tone at 3

Fender currently does sell a Champ '57 Custom tweed for $999. It has marvelous clarity and warmth. I plugged a hollow body jazz guitar with P90 pickups into it and it was clearer and warmer than all the other amps in Guitar Center. They use a $55 Weber Signature 8" Alnico speaker in it. Maybe the same Weber speaker installed in the Monoprice could be substantial improvement. I think I might try it. What do you think?

What would be the next single most important mod after the Weber speaker upgrade to get a clean clear warm jazz tone like the Champ '57 Custom tweed for $999 does?

Put in Genalex Gold Lion high end audio tubes. Also, a Weber 8S alnico speaker.

Replaced the white chicken head knobs with black ones and removed the Celestion logo.

I was just on the Monoprice site.
They are selling the 5W combo for $79.99 + free shipping.

I don't have the spare cash right now

I guess I haven't posted here since 2013? I saw the Monoprice mentioned when researching the Bugera 5w. The Monoprice 5w research led me to this thread. I read the whole thread before I ordered one.

Couldn't be happier so far. I really like how it sounds with my new-to-me 2011 MIM Tele. Still breaking in the speaker and going to experiment swapping tubes, but I think it sounds pretty good stock.

Thanks for all of the info in this thread.

Someone needs to get a high quality demo of this amp up on youtube running both clean and dirty. Everything available sounds horrible or wasn't mic'd right.

I've been playing my SR5 a lot lately. Pushing it pretty hard through a Birch 1X10 cab with a WGS Green Beret 10 in it. Crunches up nicely, but loud.

Loud is expected with tubes and crunch.

The 5W Monoprice amp is now $89.99 and I'm thinking of getting one. Does anyone have the schematic or a link to the schematic?

Nice. I like the black knobs better than the cheapie white ones. I want to do that to my MP 15 too. Where'd you get them? Are they the vintage fender knobs?

This is kinda like a blues junior cheap clone type amp right? The 15 watt'er.... Daryll Braun on YouTube does a great review on this....compared to a blues Jr and a mess boogie.....I'll tell ya, impressed!!

The 5 watt i believe is comparable to a champ. The 15w is a almost direct clone of the Laney cub 12r. Neither has any similarity to a blues jr or boogie.
