Country music doesn't need saving. Its demise has been pointed to each time there has been a generation of artists being left behind by the next. There are plenty of "new" performers but they aren't really new. They're just recently being promoted, after attracting a following. That's different from the past where the following came from promotion. Thank YouTube for that. With money behind them, their music and videos have the sound and look of being professionally produced. I like Molly Tuttle. I like her style, modern bluegrass. (Where are the people saying bluegrass is dead?) Olympia sounds a little like a throwback to acoustic music of the '70s. Maybe that's why I like it. I wish I could play that well. Cross picking is impossible for me. I can manage a solo finger style, maybe even flat pick it, but to combine the solo simultaneously with the strumming makes my head explode. I listened for overdubbing and watching her play, it sounds to me like I'm listening to one guitar.
I'm a fan. I like the song. Olympia is a number by a female artist that could work as a male vocal. I could probably play it if I slowed it down a drop and played it finger style. That would still be a heluva a number to learn. It'll be my first download tonight.
