I hope I’m not starting to be a collector of PTs that go unused. I’ve still got that Antek AS-1T300 toroid PT. Too bad I can’t put that to use in an AB763 circuit.

what happened to

Given that @schmee reports good findings using JJ output tubes (which is what I was planning to use in the first place), I think I’ll probably be good.

with JJ‘s you should able to fine tune your filaments and accept the plate voltage you get.

Yeah, I think what I'll do is temporarily disconnect the Musical Power Supplies PT in my version 1 of this amp and plug this Mojotone PT in, bias the tubes, and see how it measures and sounds. Seems like it ought to work. If that all checks out, I'll move forward to sourcing the parts for v2 of this amp.

what I meant is if you use JJ 6V6 output tubes like you are planning, then the transformer you have should work well for your DR build.

that last post sounded like you were unsure if you wanted to use the PT.

in other words, I am saying that it sounds like you are good to go.

Ok, cool. :) I'm excited to build it up and see how it compares with v1 of this amp. My main goal of V2 is to have its self noise (hum & buzz) be a lot more quiet. Everything else about v1 is pretty incredible.

I got this amp built up. Wall voltage is currently: 123 VAC.

Running with the Black-White PT primaries on the mains:

Secondaries: 363VAC
B+: 460V
Heaters: 6.52VAC
Bias Tap: 51VAC

Screen Voltage: 458V
Bias set to ~20mA
