You are going to think I'm kidding, but I'm not.

    Check out the Vox Starstream.

You can't get much more modern, nor more versatile.

    :)

I have had mine for six months now, and I'm just now beginning to understand/use all its features.

    ;)

Like @BigDaddyLH mentioned, the Strandberg headless cones to mind. It has an non-traditional neck which makes sense when you play one.

Then, there's also the Abasi guitars:

I know, you mentioned you didn't like pointy guitars, but Solar guitars is one of the new ones.

PRS is kinda new too compared to Fender and Gibsom, etc. Those are awesome guitars too!

I know what you mean. I used to be into giant necks and old guitars. I ended up playing a modern tele and that’s been my main guitar for a while. I have an old Japanese shredder guitar I pulled out of the case recently that’s been lying dormant for years. In the past, it wasn’t my thing but now I realize it plays better than my tele. If only we guitarists weren’t so tied to aesthetics...

I fully agree, I love the way Les Pauls and 335s look, but in 30 years of playing I have never gigged with one as I could never get the sounds I wanted from it. If Suhr made a ES335 with modern neck, better pickups etc Id be all over it.
