Last night I went to see "Mountaintop" which is a cinema verite treatment of the recording of the latest NY + Crazy Horse album. er, CD. whatever kids these days call a group of songs.

It's full of Neil's overdriven Fender Deluxe which sounds pretty great but it's got that kind of low-end "splut" that I have not found wandering the settings on my Eleven Rack, for example.

Anyone able to get that kind of sound, regardless of modeler? I'd be interested to know how you did it.

MIII V2 has a couple versions of Neil tone as factory presets, I believe.
Not my thing, but I've found there's about nothing that amp can't do

The 2.8 update of the Helix includes 2 really nice Tweed Deluxe amps. They SAG beautifully and can really nail the Neil Young tone. I think Neil plays a 5E3 ('59) which is what the LaGrange represents, but either amp model will put you in the territory.

    Fullerton Tweed: 1953 Fender 5C3
    LaGrange Tweed: 2016 Grammatico LaGrange

There was a Crazy Horse Pedal out a while back that did a great Neil Tone.

I’ve found the Fullerton Normal channel gets the closest. It’s pretty impressive!

You said regardless of modeler. Here’s a user preset (credit My Marshall user Klaas B.) that I’ve put on my Code 50. As you can see, it’s using a plexi preamp and a lot of the Guvnor. If you bump the resonance a bit you get more of your “splut”. Anyhow, not sure if you can adapt these settings to your amp but here it is.

The Tweed voice on the Superchamp X2 gets a good Neil tone and if you stick a booster on top of it it will splut nicely...or not nicely...but, you know ;)
