Sam Andrew and James Gurley in Big Brother, John Cipollina in Quciksilver, and Barry Melton in CJ and the Fish were also great guitar players who were somehow overshadowed by Jorma and Jerry. In the 80's or 90's, John and Barry had a band called The Dinosaurs that played the Bay Area clubs. I saw them a couple of times. Peter Albin, Spencer Dryden, Robert Hunter, and Merl Saunders were also in the band, as well as guest stints by Papa John, Country Joe, Jack Casady, Nicky Hopkins, Jerry Miller and David LaFlamme. Talk about a whos-who of SF rock royalty!
And don't forget that Glenn Schwartz was in the James Gang before Joe.

8:05 is a beautiful song that’s very fun to play on guitar. Peter Lewis showed a friend how to do it a few years ago.

This is the record I did with Peter Lewis's daughter Arwen. We redid Moby record but with Arwen singing. I did most of the Jerry stuff. Really fun to work on. Some great playing Jerry did.
