So Reranch is on lockdown and not shopping at the moment. Was planning on their Surf Green but trying to decide how I feel about something like this Wudtone finish instead.

Yeah, the more i look at it... the more i really like it. it combines the surf green i originally wanted and still let's me show off the grain. I've got several more steps before the finishing process. So i'll wait another week or so and see if it still tickles my fancy.

In other news... fretboard is scheduled to arrive today!

funny you mention that... I’m already nursing “Golfer’s Elbow” from all the home projects I’ve had to do recently... painting, hammering, other wood projects, swatting at carpenter bees
Rasping and sanding this guy is just icing on the cake at this point. Doing my best to do things left handed for a bit

Man, that’s starting to look real nice. I really like that possible colour change you’re contemplating.

Thanks guys! Hopefully by this afternoon, I can have the FB trimmed down to size and it’ll look a bit more like a guitar. I do have a good bit of actual work for my day job today though. We’ll see.

    Time to thickness the headstock.
First task was to whip up a little jig.

I'm looking at my 2 Strats and I think you need to go in a little deeper towards the nut on the transition. I usually end the curve about an 1/8" from the nut. On one that I made I left a lot more and the strings barely clear the end of the transition.

    Looking great!

You’re right... I definitely need to go closer to the nut. I ran out of shop time

    And I was nervous I’d over-do it

Are you using a spindle sander? Even with that it's a little slow going so no need to worry. If it's by hand tools then I kinda empathize.. :)

@RickyRicardo nah I don’t have an OSS. Mostly using a half round file with a hand drill spindle attachment just to clean it up. Slow going.

Little bit more time this evening. Closer now. Might leave it here until I get the tuners dry fit and check that the strings clear it.
