And players swinging for the fences regardless of the count/situation.

Google “OPS explained”! The game has become a mathematical wizardry.

Most of the knuckleheads are trying to be the big hero and hit home runs. They drive me crazy with the shifts leaving half the field open and they strike or fly out. Most of them can't bunt to save their lives.

Is there anything easier than bunting? Keep the barrel up, foot work, get your butt down and catch the ball. I could teach an 8 year-old to bunt a Randy Johnson pitch.

Watch a few MLB games and see what happens when they need to advance a runner or half the field is open. Most of them can't do it except for a lot of the pitchers.

The shift is ruining some careers. Matt Carpenter of the Cardinals is one, although he does have a bunt double this year (and that may be a first).

Swinging for the fences is not just a Top 10 highlights goal, it's a contract incentive. They don't earn extra money for moving a runner over.

If I talk too much about the game changing I’ll need to grow a lawn.

    Home run hitters drive Cadillacs.
I hate the trend but I’m a dinosaur, and am happy to see the players who still do it all.

It's analytics. I'm a Phillies fan and it's all about taking pitches and launch angles. It seems like every player that goes to Philly, their average goes way down, look at Bryce harper. Players like Carlos Santana bat around 210, leave Philly and then go back to batting around 270.

Taking into consideration the aid of analytics, the overall league team batting avg is fine.

A real problem may be lower attendance in many parks. It appears fans demand a competitive product or it's not worth their while.

Five pitchers a game doesn't help. But think next year the rule will be that a pitcher has to go through at least three batters

All levels of minor league baseball adopted the rule for extra innings of starting the inning with a runner on second base. Does anyone know if it has increased bunting in that situation?
I went to the All-Star Futures Game and it went extra innings. Neither team bunted and stranded the runners. The game ended in a tie!

It's a game of adjustments. Analytics told the defenses where to play (shift) - BA went down. 2014 was a record low for offenses. To beat it they changed launch angles and along with the juiced baseballs, HRs are now shifting the game back towards the offenses. It will all work out. They just need to stay away from new rule changes and trying to artificially 'balance' it out. Every new rule has unintended consequences and is another step toward distorting our game.

If we want to discuss the overall product, CB Bucknor calling balls and strikes doesn't help things. Or Angel Hernandez for that matter. Joe Freakin' West??!! Just sayin...

A bunch of billion dollar divas that strike out most of the time and once in awhile hit a dinger 450 ft. Pete Rose for the Hall of Fame!

Yeah but most of the time the team they're playing on loses the games. Last year DeGrom had a Cy Young year and the batters couldn't score for him. They lost a lot of games by low scores but the bullpen also sucked (like it does this year).

Keep the eye on the ball.

It is all about ticket sales and Cable/satellite coverage.

Juice the ball or whatever it takes.

    Add analytics for the nerds.
