I think that sometimes the manufacturers miss the boat when coming up with a name for certain pedals. The Ibanez Jet Driver is one example. I love the JD-9 but when I hear "jet" in relation to a pedal I immediately think of a Flanger. Whoosh!
So what gets your vote for some pedals could have benefited from a different designation?

Any overdrive or distortion that doesn’t mention they’re an overdrive or distortion.

The dynamic filter - boss ft2, which, despite being a terrific pedal flopped in part because apparently no one knew what a dynamic filter was meant to be.

    Dark Matter, Boneshaker....

I don't know why they conjure images related to heavy metal but they really do, and neither pedal is about that at all!

I do like pedals with names, rather than numbers.
TS 808, DM 2, DS 1 - never going to beat Mutron Bi-Phase, Big Muff or even Cry Baby for rock and roll appeal

Ibanez Bottom Booster - BB-9. its a booster but its not really about boosting the low-end, it does that a little but the name does it a disservice.

    Ibanez Clean Booster - CB-9
    Ibanez Snow Boost - SB-9
    Ibanez Sparkle Boost - SB-9

So many options better than Bottom Booster.....

You need to have @11 Gauge mod that thing, add some of his secret sauce to it...

Way Huge Swollen Pickle. I have no desire to know what that does.

I've noticed many pedals that don't relate at all to what their names are. Looking recently at delays...Milkman? Aqua Puss? Eventide Rose? Yellow Fall Vintage (sounds like you held your urine too long)?
Maybe they do that to get you to click on it to read the description, and then maybe buy??

    Tube Screamer.
A tried and true pedal, used by millions, and I don't have one. To me the name just always conjured up Van Halen, heavy metal or thrash, or anything other than what I wanted to play. Now I know differently and am considering getting one, but for the past 30 years I always assumed it wouldn't be for me.

I tried a Super Hard On, but it did nothing for me.

And probably shouldn't bring up the Bubbler chorus, or the semi infamous Celine Dion pedal..

Stack the Super Hard On into the Saucy Box and what comes out?

Not a Joyo Sweet Baby, I can affirmatively say.

There are so many reasons I don’t use pedals anymore.
The names of most are just silly.
I don’t miss the dern things, at all.
