I have ordered a mint green pickguard for my Sunburst Strat. I would love to see some photos of that combo. Strat, Tele or whatever. I hear some say they are too green. Most agree the custom shop guard is the way to go but I am on a budget. Anyone have the one made by Warmoth? (for the record and so we understand each other, I am always on a budget)

Does anyone have any pics with the sunburst/mint green combo?

Here's one

Mint green goes perfectly with sunburst! But it doesn't look that good on a blonde body. The Tele guard is Allparts, great colour!

Freewheeler's pictures capture the 'vibe' perfectly so I won't post any more.
But I find that it depends on the actual colours in the sunburst just how good it looks. Sunbursts can have a yellowish, orangey or even slightly greenish hint to them in the middle and sometimes the green doesn't quite work. And to me, it works better with a 3-tone than a 2-tone.
Also, replacement guards from, say, Allparts, can have a more greenish tint than an actual Fender replacement guard. That can make a difference too.

But if it works it really works, IMO.

Sunburst and the mint green guard go perfectly together. I think it's the best combo yet. I have a mint green guard on my sunburst TE-2 and the guard even matches the double binding. I have another TE-2 with a white guard and the differeance between the 2 are very noticable.

How about tinted maple neck, sunburst, and mint?

Freewheeler and mildwild, those are nice looking guitars with mint pickguards. I was too chicken to find out how mint looks with a maple neck, so I went with a parchment pickguard. Freewheeler's pictures show that the mint guard goes with a rosewood neck. Now I see from mildwild's strat that maple looks good.

So, what do you think it would look like on a guitar with a tinted maple neck?

As it turned out, I used an AllParts pickguard and I can trace and recut the middle pickguard in another one if I like the look of mint. (Note that the way I put this together, I can swap pickguards without loosening the neck, or taking off pickups.)

It will good great with a tinted neck. I think mint goods on many finishes.

Here is an old pix of the mint guard on my Candy Apple Red Tele.

The neck and guard looked a little darker than this pictures shows.

Both guards are made by Fender.

It I got both guards new for under $30 CDN
Just lucky I guess, but I think they go fo about $25.

Keep the pics coming folks. I am starting to warm up to green mint.

Freewheeler, that is the best mint green PG picture I have seen so far(in many photos they appear white). And yes, your tele is beautiful.

Even though I've been a fan of mintgreen on sunburst for years, I'm just after putting parchment guards on both my sunburst teles. Also a great look.

But I'm plotting a 60s Classic Strat for my next birthday and I'll be leaving the mint guard on it, for sure.

Both mintgreen and parchment look only slightly different than white in photos, but 'in the flesh' they both make a guitar look so much better somehow. 'Richer', or something. Can't think of the right adjective.

Cowards die many times before their deaths
the valiant n'er taste of death but once
of all the wonders, that i yet have heard
it seems to me, most strange, that men should fear,
seeing that death, a necessary end,
will come, when it will come......Billy Sheakspeare

Caesar says that March 15 was two weeks ago, are you trying to tell us something?

Calpurnia says to stop calling Shakespeare "Billy."

Shakespeare says to spell his last name right.

I say don't abbreviate Shakespeare's words. (please)

Okay, you officially stumped me. Why the Julius Caesar reference to Sarge's post?

Cowards....

Geez......ok,you got me on the spelling, sorry. The 100 year old book I first read that quote in 35 years ago, spelled it n'er(obviously never) as do the original manuscripts. It was British, you know, like tyres. We Canadians still have strong U.K.ties here in "British Columbia" If William's writings were not "translated" for us they would be virtually unreadable......to some.If you go back and read Sarge's "tag" I think you'll glean my reference. This was my first post on this site or any site for that matter, didn't realize I had to pass muster.Sarge can explain that one to you too. JJ in Vancouver.

P.S. you have built a beautiful guitar, great idea, might try that sometime.
Have and love sunbursts, prefer black/white/black guards on sunbursts
(old school) but that one looks great with the binding, very pretty.

No, there's no muster. Sorry for being harsh. I guess it was the first-post thing that made me respond. Apparently, I skip over the taglines when I read. Honestly, I thought it was one of those things where someone created an account to troll on another member or something. I went back and read Sarge's post 5 times wondering what you were referencing! I n'er read things thoroughly, I guess.

Thanks for your comments about the guitar. I think I will stick with it the way it is, because I worry that the creamy white binding might not look good with the mint, and the parchment remains the right choice.

cheers and all,

Well, my mint green pickguard arrived and after some newbie type problems, the guitar is complete. Well almost, I still need a decal. I would love to track down one of those Ferden's. Does anyone know of a source?

Here are some pics. In the flesh, this thing looks awesome. TG, you were right, it gives it a "rich" look. This is a SRV strat body, a might mite neck and a warmouth pickguard. Thanks for looking.
