Radiohead: Arpeggi; Videotape
eh, most rock music has melodies about as simple as the pop examples, i’d say melody has been in the old folks home for about half a century now. at least, i certainly don’t put on sabbath records to hear melodies.
I feel like this is in the general orbit for some reason
Can’t forget this guy either
I don't put on Sabbath records at all!
Before they became Träd Gräs och Stenar
Like "don't fear the reaper" or George Harrisons lyrics?
some really nice things on that record. had no idea about these guys. thanks!
Love this kind of stuff, great thread idea OP
Ufomammut, Italian band that makes heavy use of repetition, riffs to create mantra like effects, like in this video the intro riff lasts about two and a half minutes, buildup doesnt release until about a minute later. Meandering and whispering synths dance around the corners of the music, always letting the riff lead the way
Post punkers also flirt with it quite a bit
Blew my mind when I first heard this 20 years ago. My favorite ‘indie’ band since
Or the tangents that Boris often go on in the early days
Amen. And commitment to repeatable excellence might be why Rob Dickinson makes such epic Porsche restomods (he owns Singer). Still blows me away that's Bruce's cousin.
Punisher of a track there. Maybe I've got this idea wrong, but here's another that comes to mind:
I wasn’t impressed with too much of these guys’ catalog when I checked them out but this one was a nice surprise when hearing it on the radio last year
Also guess the early swans stuff fits here as well
Black Midi maybe? Great album, here's the lead track live and in studio. Album was on fire last year iirc
for sure! they have a lot of it. Speedway and Near DT, MI are really killer.
