Sorry I missed y'all! I've been up in Ann Arbor at my youngest' college graduation. If we do it again, I'll sure try to be there - Redd puts on a show!

Uh oh. That Buckocaster guitar he is playing is a "pink sparkle"?

I thought it was purple-ish. Is it just the stage lighting, or is it like that stupid blue dress thing from last year in which around half the people see the wrong color?

Did they play the Allman Brothers' "Jessica"? Redd can burn that one up. Love it.

    Yes it is. Pink...pink...pink.

Pink enough to make a certain type of lady in New Orleans blush.

    That's how pink it is.

    ;)

Haybale AND Junior Brown... and you're thinking about how you 'might head back'? Man, you are in the presence of some of the greatest - absolute best-ever greatest -Telecaster guitar players who have ever lived and played, and you are in Austin TX to see them..

and you're thinking "...hmmm, I might head back."

You can get complacent around here. I had the opportunity to go see what turned out to be Stevie Ray Vaughan's final taping of an Austin City Limits TV show. But, I said "Naw, I'll catch him next time." Mistake.

To be more specific, I was in Austin TX to take my son and his friend to the DreamHack 2017 convention at the Austin Convention Center. I had other obligations last weekend besides just seeing live music nonstop.

I did get up early Sunday morning and I went on a 2 hour hike throughout South Austin. I swung by the Continental Club at 7am, but alas Junior and Redd were not there, I'm not sure why. It sure was peaceful in the area tho at that time.

Always fun to visit Austin, and never enough time to see it all.

Sounds like a blast. Maybe I'll get back to Texas sometime.

It looks like they upgraded the monitors in the CC since I did sound there on a tour in the '80's!

The venue is as old as I am!
The sound was great at this show.
The CC is a typical old Texas building, long and tall, with lots of hard surfaces.
It can get way too loud in there, in a hurry.
    It often does.
Keeping the volume lower works much better!

Goddam it! I missed it, my taxi got stuck in the north pacific gyre. Look, me, Hoodie, Suthol and Trev333 are hosting the Emmanuel brothers on the weekend of the 20th at the Cairns Trocadero. Special guests are Angus Young, Rick Brewster, Billy Thorpe and Mackenzie Theory. All the beers are on HoodieMcFoodie!
You guys in 'murica are too lucky. Why the hell don't you appreciate it?

I'm pretty sure it's even about a decade older than you.

Last time I was in there I looked up at the ceiling and saw the holes where those giant smoke-eaters used to be. Remember those? They were pretty loud, themselves.

I believe the CC opened for business the year of my birth, 1957.
    The building may be older.
I do remember the smoke eaters.
    Those never worked!
I have only played there once.
I played with Erik Hokkanen (Erik & The Offbeats-or Beatoffs as we called ourselves).
We opened for Rosie Flores, circa 1990.

Sounds like a hell of a show.

What I'd like to know is when is Redd coming back to Oz I seem to find out after the event.

Not that long ago he was onstage with Stuie French at Ramsgate RSL mentioned in the gig guide of the local rag the day after it was over too effing late yet again
