Paring down my collection and was debating selling my Deluxe Ash Tele. I have 2 (one has upgraded vintage tuners). I was considering $400-$450 and then saw this listing on eBay

That seems crazy high for this nice but relatively common guitar. I love both of mine, but if I can get way more than I paid...

I’m guessing there’s a premium for Ash now and brass saddles.

I just snapped some photos and put it up on CL and FB for $725.

Since Fender isn't using ash on regular production guitars anymore, the used prices are skyrocketing.

I paid $450 for mine with no case 2 years ago. I just got a Squire Classic Vibe Pine body for $275 2 weeks ago.

I sold mine in excellent condition 2 years ago for $465. Maybe I’d pay $550 now if I really wanted one. $800? Never. You can buy a nicer guitar new for less than $800.

Lotta people selling used Players for $600, or at least trying to. It may work. Good luck.

The last three new guitars I bought cost less than the used ones that were on offer. There are deals out there. Lately, though, not for used guitars.

Exactly my thoughts. My 2004 Am Series Strat, same colour, must be worth more than my (modest) house!

Good Luck! But, not to be a downer, asking prices may not be indicative of actual selling prices. It's always good to check the numbers are actual sold listings.

Yes, but prices are clearly up.

Basically, it boils down to how good a seller are you, and how happy are you having to interact with strangers just now?

IF you are committed to these interactions anyway, may as well ask for $ 600.

Oh I get it. But that’s why I posted a shot of that ebay listing. It has 20 bids and is over $800. It will sell for that or more. And honestly, if the player series is $749 plus tax now (maybe 15% less if you are comfortable negotiating) with a non ash body and 6 steel saddles instead of 3 brass, a clean used one looks good.

Beware. If weight matters, these can be heavy. I was lucky and found one at about 7lbs 4oz, but many are 8-8.5lbs and more.

I bought mine in Summer 2020 for $650, a 2014, no case. Flawless condition though.

Put in a Seymour Duncan Vintage Broadcaster and changed the pots to Emerson CTS 250k and an oil drum capacitor. Also bought road worn screws, and strap buttons.

I absolutely love the Ash body and brass saddles.

    It’s my favorite guitar.

Strange, same guitar with same pic is on ebay again, now asking $800 obo (non auction). Why wouldn't they have sold it at that auction? Someone didn't pay up?

Yep... most likely the case. I've been hearing a fair amount of that happening lately, from people I know who sell out there have told me. Not just the bay but other places too I guess. There's also a rise in scams too... not sure what's going on but that's what I've been told recently.

Thanks for sharing. Guess that was an anomaly and not indicative of true value.
