Someone go out and make a million dollars.

Make an ASIAN themed pedal that sounds like a SHAMISEN, or other ASIAN type musical instruments.

You will profit and be rich.

    Thank me later.

Anyone else think this is a great idea for a pedal?

I think I remember one of those Anderson's videos where they actually demo'd something like that. I don't remember what it was for sure and it's possible I'm mistaken, but I'm pretty sure. IIRC, it sounded half decent for what it was trying to do, but pretty bad by any other standard.... If we've never heard of it, I guess it wan't a million dollars idea though....

You are referring to the miku pedal, which is a novelty at best, and is actually mimicking an asian woman's voice.

I am talking about replicating actual asian instruments.

And yes this idea is worth millions. I could see everyone and their mom buying this pedal, if done right.

EHX would be the company to do it.

That will be included on the aboriginee pedal, which might not sell as well, but still be a success.

Wow, in the first video, she doesn't mess around when it comes to picks. Probably comes in handy to scrape ice off your windshield.

I have 3 pedals on backorder right now because manufacturers can't keep up. Pedals are big bucks my friends.

If you know about the EHX synths/organs/bass pedals, you know that they can pull this off with perfect execution.

Tommy Tedesco was a famous studio musician. He was known for being able to make up anything the producer wanted, on the spot. He could get the sound, the phrasing, the flavor.
He was also known for being a multi-instrumentalist, always bringing several guitars, solid and arch top, banjos, bouzoukis, mandolins, and other “ethnic” instruments to sessions if needed. You got paid extra for "doubling" on other instruments.
Now, remember, in the studio, all these guys are sitting down, so you were lucky if you could see one anothers heads sticking up from behind the walls of sound baffles and music stands all around.
So, at one session, the producer says to Tommy, “Can you give me a mandolin sound on the next cue?”
Tommy says, “Sure!” He reaches down, switches instruments, and plays brilliantly as usual.
Next track, the produced wants a bouzouki, a triangle-shaped three string Greco-Russian thing. Same great tone and execution.
It was only later Tommy revealed that he never had those instruments, he totally faked reaching down to “change” instruments. It was all done on his faithful Telecaster. He just adjusted his playing, muting here, playing way up the neck there, interpreting and phrasing those exotic “foreign” scales.

I think the closest anyone has come to this, is EHX Ravish Sitar pedal. Not sure it does a great job, but it sounds like middle-easterny things....

So does that include the guitars made in Japan, China, Korea and Indonesia?

    These are Asian instruments: 45259D69-ECF8-40EA-B87D-5586711C5341.jpeg 7812D379-9FF2-427B-B1E9-B8FE9CEE94AC.jpeg 7004492B-088D-48E5-9C3E-5B267DA9B10D.jpeg

    .

Listen to the tone of this guitar/player, both at the intro and much more at the end of the video.
