glad to see he's doing something. can't say it grabs me though. is he touring an album?
Sounds familiar................... like his old band. Like it!
Love that alt country vibe.
Mike Campbell is a weird phenomenon. Mostly I don't think about him until I do, and then I think he's the best guitarist in rock and roll. Then I go about my day not thinking about Mike Campbell. Until I hear him again. I guess that makes him an amazing side man.
It Might Get Loud would have been better if they'd picked him instead of Jack White (nothing against Jack White).
I like it lots. Thanks for posting. I look forward to both Mike's own music as well as his collaborations in the years to come.
First few seconds I was worried but then it kicked in and I enjoyed it. Sounded Heartbreakers-ish to me. Which is good, of course.
Love the gear, especially that bass.
Thanks for sharing, much appreciated.
Really good! Mike was helping when Tom was writing songs.. I'm glad he was able to keep the legacy alive in his own way...I have a '67 B-15 like that bass guy too, love it.
Put on headphones, close your eyes and listen to how Mike's voice brings back memories of a band out of Gainesville, Florida, in mid-seventies, that had a unique and distinctive sound. Tom might have left us over two years ago but through Mike and his new group, his music style and memory will live on.
Thanks for posting.
I used to be just this way about Mike, but as I get older and as the Heartbreakers increasingly meant more to me, Mike has taken permanent residence in my list of top 5 guitarists (and almost the only one who is there permanently). It is awesome to see him in this role. I am only bummed that the Dirty Knobs tour isn't coming anywhere close to me.
Go wash you ears out
That's just straight ahead rock and roll. Which is terrific.
It's got that "Taxman" style bass line too.
I hope this means he's done slumming it with Fleetwood Mac.
I love Mikes playing, his vibrato and less is more attitude. One of my favourite players.
Like it a lot. Campbell is about as solid a player as there is.
His voice sounds a lot like Tom! I have always thought that Tom and band were like Chet Atkins and Kevin Costner. They're so laid back and make what they do seem so easy that you sometimes don't realize how amazing they are until you really pay attention.
He sounds like the guy who used to play with Tom Petty & the Heartbreakers.
If somebody is going to carry on the TP mantle should be Mike. You go boy!
