EU - The sunny side :)
I got perma-banned from the UMGF (Martin) forum (inhabited mostly by old guys with their retirement funds who can't play), because I dared argue with a mod about an issue I knew for a fact to be a blatant lie. Their immature arrogance wouldn't allow them to admit to being wrong. Sympathy extended to you mate.
I wasn’t going to post anything else, as there is really no point anymore, however i feel obliged to thank your kind words and support.
Thanks mate ;)
All the best.

Who the hell can "forget" a Fender in a house moove at all...?
I wouldn't forget a pin, let alone a whole guitar.
Aparently some people have way too much loose money in their hands then they are entitled to...
Your friend's gain, well done indeed
Friend of mine found a CS beside a skip. No one in the house. Took the guitar home, told the police the details, no one claimed it so now it's hers, case, candy, everything, just a quick clean and set up needed.

When these issues arise, it’s best to do a “reasonable” disassembly in order to establish what it is that you have. The neck pocket and foot findings are really important in many cases, for example.

Take pictures, compare with reliable references and once the questions are answered, reassemble.

If questions remain then decide if the acquired pictures are complete enough for an expert to answer the questions. If so, reassemble and send the pictures to the expert(s).

I have two 50th anniversary MIJ Fujigen Teles that are the Bees Knees! Some of the best playing Teles I’ve ever encountered. So establishing an unknown’s authenticity would be very important to me, personally.

Is there an oval 50th anniversary label on the back of the peg head? Is there a “machine gun” case? Little things like this may add to the total picture if the guitar was altered in any way.

My 2 cents. Good Luck.
Me? I'd just clean it, set it up and play it

Oh beware bud... that's a very touchy subject, mods may just decide you're a misogynist and delete your comments while insulting you...
Don't even breathe wrong...
Mustn't offend the wallflowers... :rolleyes::eek:
Er, that's 'tetchy', but I take your point.

That’s a heckuva find. Congrats!

I had client about 30 years ago that found Gibson LP standard in a (then) custom blue (it’s now blueburst) on the side of the road. I scoffed at the story but his wife confirmed- she double checked all their credit cards and bank accounts for anything shady. And his kid excitedly told the story-
“dad was driving me to baseball practice and suddenly yelled ‘what is that?’ And pulled over. He ran and got the guitar case and we missed my game to bring it home.”

It was a fantastic story, but the wife and kid swore it was true.

I spent the next thirty years constantly checking the side of the road when driving…

Someone once found a '60s CBS Tele in a pile of trash too, I think it was discussed here some years ago. The luck of some people...
My best friends’ father, on the way to work one morning, saw an old guitar case sticking out of a trash can. He turned his car around and retrieved it from the trash can.

Long story short, it was a very old Martin but, beyond that, none of the stores in NYC that he visited had any idea how old. So he shipped it to the Martin factory for identification. It ended up being one of the oldest (or maybe the oldest? I learned about it over 40 years ago) Martins they had ever come across.

Some people do get lucky!

One who dies? They tell me you forget lots of things right there and then.

One who starts learning, gives up very quickly, sticks the guitar in the loft and then 30 years later stumbles across it in a house move. About 90 - 95% of people who start playing give up in a few weeks and they either sell the guitar or put it somewhere "safe", out of the way and it gets forgotten. I'm a guitar teacher (40+ years so far) and I know that out of the millions who start learning, hardly anyone carries on to a decent level, and most stop almost straight away - as soon as they realise they have to put some effort in. Same as learning most things, people think they want to play the guitar, but actually it's the idea of magically being able to play - not years of effort - that they want. Similar thing happened to me, and I only just remembered when reading this thread, with learning the blues mouth organ, until now, I totally forgot that I have a load of them (in different keys) - probably a few hundred pounds worth. I have no idea where they are. Same thing happens with people quitting guitar. :)
