Thanks Alan, nice blues and a cool odd blues. Stella By Starlight is a wonderful song, however the chord changes and key shifts make it a pretty hard tune. Typical soloing is bebop, chromatic chord tone stuff through three or 4 temporary keys. It's a roller coaster. This bt is slowed down, normally it's up around 170bpm. I need to open The Real Book and see what's in store harmony wise. I'm shy playing over this because I've heard Scofield play over it and I can't do that. But I may try my thing anyway, move over John, gulp.
If I may suggest with much respect that there are some great sophisticated jazz tunes that are mildly challenging yet still much easier to play than Stella and would appeal to most everyone here. Tunes like Song For My Father, Maiden Voyage, All Blues, So What, and so many more. Song For My Father would be fun.
